Welsh house rebuild on the telly last night
#1
Anyone see the program last night?
Guy rebuilding a Welsh 300year old cottage (Design visions I think the program was called)...
Noticed he has a Scooby and a 555 jumper..
Wondered if he was on here?

Guys name was Adrian..
He also had an old Silver Legacy.
I was impressed they got a mortgage on a part complete house that was a ruin previous to the work..

That's the one...
Was built very well and looked lovely in the end..
Got me thinking about doing similar...
Then I had a reality check!
Very risky.. they were lucky to get the builders etc..
I thought the 1/2miles driveway to my Dad's place was bad, but their drive took the pee...

I think he got the £60k mortgage because by obtaining planning permission to rebuild the cottage it jumped in value from the £15k he paid to approx £150k, all without lifting a tool!
The bank had nothing to loose and could have easily reclaimed their money.
Note that planning permission took almost 5yrs to obtain and it's taken 2yrs to complete the house!
I admire the guy for his determination though, the builders too!

Didn't appreciate it took 5years to get planning permission!!
As I have found near where I live, if you just keep putting in for it modifying the plans slightly to address the reasons for objection you eventually get it, within reason.
Much to the annoyance to all us neighbours who objected from day one..

When that programme was originally screened there was a thread posted in non-scooby about it the next day as some other eagle-eyed anoraks (myself included) had spotted the scoobs and the 555 fleece. Adrian is a scoobynetter and replied on the thread. It'd be nice to hear from him again. Fabby place he's got

Wasn't it another Scoobynet member (Rupert Upton I think) who had their house built - I think it was the one with the kitchen in the centre of the house. Wasn't the house cross shaped or something?
