WORLD RECORD - Last Chance to Support us..
#1
Hi All
Thank you to everyone who has offered their support so far.
THE ATTEMPT HAPPENS THIS SUNDAY!!!
We still need MUCH more in the way of pledges for the charity fund.
We are going to arrange a whole host of different ways to pay (IF / WHEN) we set the record, so it will be easy peasy (including online payments (although this will probably mean a charge), cheques, post office, etc).
Please go here to officially pledge your cash to support us (even if you have already stated a pledge by email or on the last thread)

Apologies...
at present we are purely saying "childrens charities", but we intend to put the decision of which charities to the vote of all the people that give.
I'll add that to the info page.
Cheers

Thank you very much for the 10 people who have spledged so far
I'm sure we can do better than that though!!!
COME ON GUYS!!! every penny goes to charity.. and you get to vote on which charity..
and you'll be supporting scoobynet and our community by showing what we can achieve.
Sorry to sound like a muppet, but if we all only gave a tenner each we would be able to hand over a stunning cheque to a deserving charity.
This is a real opportunity to raise a hill of cash for people who need it more than us, so let's make use of it!
All the best

How long do you think you can keep it going? When you first had this idea there was talk of toilet breaks, so I got the impression it was going to be several hours.
Is 15 minutes the current record, or just something the Guinness people have come up with as a reasonable starter for 10?
Do you get more than one attempt? Is there going to be a report available on Scoobynews II?

Hi Carl
some good questions...
ok..
Unfortunately it turned out that fuel is going to last WAY less than we expected. In testing we calculated that an hour and a half is about the most we can hope for.
In addition to this, it is a tremendously challenging task, so there is every chance that we won't do it (although I wouldn't be here making the attempt unless I was completely confident).
15 minutes is the minimum Guinness world records require to classify it as a record.
We basically have the day there, so if we don't manage it on the first attempt we can try again. But after that, we will have outstayed our welcome at MIRA so that's it!
Now that we have a date and ScoobyNews 1 is not out, we are hanging on to include this report in ScoobyNews 1.
There will also be a cut down version of the events available on scoobynet, and (by the looks of it) many of the major motoring publications, and possibly top gear and / or driven.
We will also be running live commentry onto a special thread on scoobynet here on sunday so you will be able to track our progress and also send encouragement and questions back to us on event.
All the best

I'll pledge another fiver if you can promise Ian Wright doesn't have anything to do with this!
Anyway I'm pledged up.
Can I have a 'I helped push SDB around for the kiddies' badge?

Remember also..
If your company wants to pledge more than £200 to the charity fund they can have their logo on the car and a large glossy picture of the car after the event.
(obviously, the largest donation secures the largest area on the car )
Best regards
Simon

lol
well spotted..
it was simply that we couldn't get enough height to get a shot of the circles that clearly showed the car sideways, so I thought I'd include that so it was clear what was going on
cheers
