I was travelling on the A404 this morning on the way to Marlow in Bucks in in the passenger seat of a Golf 4-motion. We were in the outside lane at about 70mph and I saw in the passenger side wing mirror a scooby approaching at a fair pace and I told the driver to "get out the way a let a real proformace car through" which he did.
The Scooby then floored it and took off down the A404 with us in pusuit as the driver of the Golf 4-motion was adiment that his car was quicker and he would catch what I belive was a standard silver MY99 turbo.
Let say that silly speeds were reached by both cars but the MY99 was always ahead of the game especially when we reach a roundabout when the MY99 almost disappeared from view it held the road so well.
It was so pleasing to see as we were virtually the only cars on the raod so we were not driving unsafe.
I got to tease the 4-motion driver for the rest of the journey. He's now thinking of buying a Poker.
Bring it on!!!

A V6 4-motion tried to leave me on the dual-carriagway between Keighly and Skipton last week (mines a standard UK MY97 wagon) and I kept up with him pretty easily until I backed off due to catching up with other traffic (he didn't back off, but that's his look out I suppose). He was def. trying as he was just cruising until I got close to him.

I remember the 3 car comparison in Autocar when the MY01 first arrived. They compared an S3, Golf 4 motion and a MY01. They said the 4 motion was downright dangerous to push hard on our roads and wasn't in the same league.

I drove a friends 4 motion recently and was expecting it to be really good. I agree with Autocar's comment that Yorkie quoted above. At the time, I was used to my MY99 Turbo and in comparison the 4 motion steering and handling was so inferior it felt positively unsafe to push as hard as I would have in the Scoob.
