Remember the little git in the Vectra that destroyed my back bumper paint work. Well......tried to phone him tonight to talk it through and got some poor innocent women!! Then phoned 192 and nobody listed under that name at that address.

Went to the police station and the reg plate has not been registered by the new keeper!! Dunfermline police dudes will look into it but I don't hold much hope

If I end up having to pay for this I'm going to be hanging around that Dunfermline retail park with a balaclava and a baseball bat for the next few weeks. GRRRRRRR!!!

Saxo Boy

Did he give a name? use www.192.com to look it up and then go hunting. He'll be in the same area/town as you so should be easy to do(and free)

I have this problem in that I'm (stupidly) a fairly trusting person. He seemed quite reasonable when confronted and I was happy just to jot down his details as I figured with the reg plate I'd be ok. My other trate is that I have a short fuse so god help the little ***** if I find him, I'll take more than £200 worth of damage out his face

This sort of story is coming more and more common, and it bursts my nads.
It's gotten to the point, no matter how minor a bump, if I feel I am not at fault, the cops get called. End of story.
If they leave before the cops get there, then it's leaving the scene of an accident.
I know it's a sad state of affairs, but it's the only way forward.

I've never actually been turned over like this before, in fact I have taken full responsability for an accident that could have been deemed 50/50 (unmarked Xroad). I was at fault and I knew it.

Afraid there seems to be more lying to55ers out there than genuine people. Hope you find them and apply the appropriate retribution.

Yozza, don't worry I'm not about to get myself into trouble.

Dunk, I'll post the reg plate for general 'look out' duty if the police come up with nothing and maybe someone will spot him and where he lives/works. That way I can 'politely' ask for him to cover my painting costs.

Made the decision this morning that if someone so much as farts on my car in the future I'll call the police and let them sort it out.

Great suggestion smalley me old china

Tried the 192.com thing and found a Steven Cronin (the name given) living at a completely different address to the one given BUT, in South Queensferry where he said he lived. This of course could be another innocent but it gives an avenue for me and the police to follow up.....even gave me a phone number

I am surprised more people don't just register their cars at a false address. If you do that then you can't get speedcamera or parking fines. In the event of an accident then you get away with it.

Don't hold out any hope of the police finding him. Friend got knocked off his bike by a hit and run and the police (eventually) found out the car was not registered at the correct address. Closed case unless he is stopped in the next year.

This is why I carry a camera in my car at all times. Get a cheap disposible camera because if you do ever need it it will be invaluable.

Cheers for that doof, I'll probably make a late night driveby myself to see if I can spot the car and then plan how best to make an approach. If I do.........might need some burley volunteers for show

Calling the Police after and accident will not help. They will not be interested and not attend unless a 3rd party has been injured or some 3rd party property has been damaged.

However, if you suspect the other driver *may* have been drinking, they *may* take a little more interest?

Too busy hiding behind bushes stopping speeding cars, as opposed to actually attending the scene of an accident.
Nothing surprises me anymore!

I'm pretty sure yer man wouldn't want the hassle of indurance campanies sueing him, which they would try if you have a reasonable bit of proof.

Maybe you should just leave your car outside his house for a while, (watching from a safe distance). That ought to freak him out a bit, may jog his memory too.

I am sure he thinks he got away with it. Perhaps if you can show him he hasn't he'll come clean to avoid the ag'.

Question

Hail-Hail The police don't and never have attended non injury or damaged property accidents unless there is a problem (road blocked dangerous etc) why would they?

Nice of you to have another needless dig though.

Phoned the number and talked to Steven Cronin's dad. Steven Cronin is a big lad with cropped hair and nothing like the lad that hit me. He also drives a silver rover so it would seem the tw@t that hit me gave the name of someone else in S Queensferry, an address in S Queensferry and a S Queensferry number but none relate to him

It just became my mission in life to find this little ****-wit and ensure that he pays for the damage he caused!!!!!!!!!!! Getting very close to the watch out for P reg vectra stage!

Also, given that all information given has one thing in common, i.e. South Queensferry I could do a drive around to find his car. Ah, but that'll costs you a fortune to drive all the streets of South Queensferry you say. Not a problem, I'll borrow the old mans LPG astra and I can drive every street for about £5 a night.

If I find him I'm up for having a huge scoobynet meeting outside his house (full-decat burbles in all) until he volunteers to come out and pay

If you do find him, you can try sending him photos of the damage.

I am sure he would appreciate some Subaru sales literature too, just in case he was thinking of buying one, register interest at the Subaru website.

Leave him a message on under his screen wiper:
"Please get the money ready for saturday, I'll have someone collect it"

Send something to Mrs Vectra along the lines of:
"Your husband hit my car in a car park blah blah blah"

Or maybe send Mrs Vectra some flowers too, I'm sure that will go down a treat.

I am sure the insurance company would love to know, the police too, but possible not in combination with the above!

Hail-hail - He called the police AFTER it happened. As he didn't realise the person was a scumbag. If he'd been phsycic and knew the person was giving false details and called the police, I'm sure they'd have all put down their speeding equipment and helped. They'd have probably got tired arms anyway from all holding there laser detectors all day every day as they do

Bloody horrible thing to happen though saxoboy. Some people are scum.
