Guys,

As a Scooby owner for the past 5 years and 5 cars later, I have always put in Super Unleaded in my tanks from day 1. Always 98 ron. I go to BP the other day, 97 Ron, I ask why, the answer,,, don't know. I go to Esso last night, new stickers on the pump, 97 Ron. I ask why, dont know.

So we now have only 97 Ron. I am so glad that I have now gone back to a UK car and feel sorry for all import owers/98 Ron & above only owners.

So does anyone know why. I think I'll see how much power the SIDC has in the annals of petro-commerce and ask for an official answer. Seriously though, it's very worrying.

Stuart.

Yeah - I have a UKMY98. I always thought in the back of my mind that an import would have been better. Especially cause the likes of a WRX can be got cheaper than an official UK car.

Now I'm not so sure. I did jump around between premium and super. Now I don't bother I just put premium in now.

Does this mean all the Jap imports need to be remapped, or will the ECU compensate down to 97 RON.

It's still annoying - its not like there were any announcements or a consultation period before the move to drop the RON rating of super-unleaded.

My WRX runs on either SUL or NUL no problems. Tune your car to the limits and you might have problems.

313BHP and 268lbs torque...and still lafin!

I cannot honestly tell the difference between 95 and 97/98.....apart from the pickup might be a tad smoother maybee..... but I can tell you for sure when the weather gets warmer again....

Stu,

The Bp's in Stockport are still running 98RON S/L for how long - I don't know , Esso already converted to 97Ron S/L up here, probably due to the intro of LRP which is 97RON. I always throw in 1/2 a tin of proboost per tank full in my STi, giving approx 100RON, costly but what isn't in this day and age. The tax on petrol is an absolute p*ss take IMHO.

Howie

I asked trading standards about mislabeling of LRP as 4star and apparantly the petrol companies are allowed to do this for 6 months. Wonder if the same applies for 98/97?
