Its coming round to my insurance again, and again i'm thinking about selling my MY00 uk turbo and getting a p1 before my renewel.

I've had my scoob for 2 years now and done alot to it (FMIC, full decat, unichip, evc4) so that it is running a good 270bhp, its even sonic blue and has P1 wheels.
So would it really be worth me getting a P1?
Is it worth me shelling out an extra 6 or 7 grand?

What are your views?

I have a Terzo standard spec(ish), last W/E a work colleague let me loose in his newly purchased P1. I drove him in mine razzing around a few twisties and then in the P1 but not nailing it in the bends (akin to getting off with your mates GF).

For the P1:
The power delivery was a lot smoother and I could be a lot lazier.
There was a bit of torque steer on a road with a noticable camber.
The brakes were on a par with my Grp N's
Handling was pretty much the same - maybe slightly better.
It looked very nice especially with THOSE spoilers.

I concluded that if I was going to spend 6-7k:

I would go for 3k of mods to my car and spend the rest on toys.
I would buy a sports bike.
I would go for a completely different driving experience.

If your happy with your car keep it. Youll only regret spending the extra cash when you could spend it on your car now. Its obviuosly a European import (because of the colour)so its a rare sight. Modify it and make it faster than a P1.

Do you really want a 2 door car? (Apart from not being able to afford a P1 yet ) This puts me off one, as I really need a 4 door car.

They do look the dogs bo11ocks though. Hows about you put yours back to standard, and use some of the trick bits on a P1.
P1+Decat+FMIC=300+bhp???????? is this wrong. Surely it wont be far off.

Cool

I swapped from a MY00 to a P1 and have never looked back.

P1 is just more special. Make sure you get a nice one though as there are some tatty examples knocking around.

By the way Bell direct have just quoted me for £600 for insurance for it. Not bad seeing as though thats with prodrive mods declared.

29 full no claims living in Somerset.

Thanks for your comments. I'm still pretty much undecided though.

I'm not going to spend anymore on my car though, i've already spent near on 5 grand, and i dont think that i will be able to modify the engine anymore without risking its reliability.
I've only just spent out on a 600cc sports bike, so i've scratched that itch.
I've got the money to buy a P1 (although it will be out of my "house deposit" savings) and i'm young and unattatched, so i'm thinking if i dont do it now, i never will!

Basically i think i'm just trying to convince myself!

Cheers,

Reading your last post what are you waiting for..

Or if you have that much spare income then get a small loan and get a 22B!!

You are only young once after all..

I am young too but all my money goes into my house and to support the wife and kid.. so I have to make do with a MY96 and a MY98 Blade.. I have no regrets but if I was single now I would have a 22B on the drive.... and probably be just as skint and have just as big a smile on my face but just for a different reason.
You can always sell the car.. a 22B might hold its money better too..

If the 22B is out of the question then get the P1...

Yep definately get an Sti V5/6. Will offer capabilities very close to a P1 for thousands less (even if u take into account the import related costs such as higher insurance). Parts are no problem. Get 17s and tune the suspension and you're on a winner.

importsti - you could say that they exceed the p1 in some ways. ie 300bhp with octane booster and ScSp StSt exhaust.
