sure many of you saw this in the papers yesterday ..... so watch out for Atkinson Corner ....

Rowan Atkinson has survived his third terrifying brush with death - without a scratch.

The Mr Bean star walked away unhurt after crashing his £80,000 Aston Martin V8 Zagato just seconds into a sports car race.

It shot off the track and smashed into barriers when the brakes failed on a 50mph bend. Rowan, 46, was badly shaken and his prize motor was left with a crumpled front end.

The race at Croft had to be halted while the car was hauled off for repair.

The smash completed a hat track of horrors for the comic actor. Two years ago he crashed a £650,000 McLaren sports car bought to celebrate the success of the Mr Bean movie. And four months ago the pilot of a Cessna aircraft collapsed as he was flying Rowan and his family from Mombasa to Nairobi.

Yesterday spectator Steve Purves said "I think he saw the funny side - even the race commentators started calling the bend Atkinson Corner."

If you can get a McLaren F1 for £650,000.00 then let me know, they are still selling for about a £1,000,000.00 which they always were

Apparently they have one for sale at about £800,000.00 if anyone here is interested

Jason

The maximum allowed selling price as I understand on the GT cars, including the McClaren was one million dollars (not pounds) which is approx. £650,000.

I stand to be corrected though.

Thumbs up

I've got a McLaren F1 brochure (official) is this rare then?

It's more like a book, probably could be described as a work of art.

Cool

The McLaren F1 did indeed cost £650,000(GB) when new. This was the equivelant of $1,000,000(US). The car was occasionally refered to as the million dollar supercar.

A chap near me, a builder (obviously a proper builder or very bent) has just purchased one in black with a very lairy number plate.

I was sitting in my local a few weeks back, in the sun having a cool coke with some mates and we heard a screaming noise heading towards us...a petrol head mate of mine said "Thats a Mclaren F1, any money"...A laughed thinking how on earth can you work that out and sure as eggs is eggs, flying past us "on the cam" and sounding so awesome was "Bob the builder" in his spankingly georgous Mclaren F1. His wife now pops into town in his F355 in bright yellow.

Now, wheres that wall building course I saw on the net

Rock on Bob the Builder.

You should try having your brakes fail at 110mph just before a 50mph bend

Question

There I was reading the topic, thought it was about the Vanquish driven by Lara Croft... hasn't Rowan bought himself one of them yet?
