I've just got back from doing my bit for charity - a 65 mile bike ride from Manchester to Blackpool. We started from Manchester at 07:30 on Sunday morning among about 4500 other cyclists.

Did anyone else on Scoobynet participate in the event??

Regards
Kurt

Spent most of Sunday trying to avoid immortal/suicidal cyclists as they went past my front door

Was very ammusing as the day went on, the pace got slower, the bikes cheaper, the faces redder, the attire less 'tour-de-france' - more tour-de-salford' and the apparent immortality greater 7-abreast down a 60-limit single carriageway A-road

yeah - I confuse the hell out of scooby drivers because I not only wave whilst in the MY01 but also when I'm on my bike.

sorry about that. force of habit.

// usually seen on v. expensive bikes around london and in central london where I can outpace any scooby through the traffic!

You're damn right. Seemed like most of the journey from Manchester to the first stop in Wigan was uphill. After the first stop, we carried on uphill some more. And then some more, and then some more.

The route through the grounds of Haigh hall was a nice down hill stretch, followed by, you've guessed, more uphill.

Had a good day though and dare I say, thoroughly enjoyed it. Pissed with rain for the last 25 miles or so though.

Regards
Kurt
