ScoobyNet Summer BBQ and RallyX (proposed)
#1
Hi All
I've been working on and off on setting up a ScoobyNet RallyX event...
basic structure is.. Large smooth medow / field with a stage laid out using soft cones etc and we can all take our scoobs on there and are timed to complete the stage. The stage would then be changed and everyone through it again, etc. Total time at the end is your RallyX time, champagne, etc! ... Should be A REALLY good laugh. No serious competition, all road tyres, just really good fun.
The best place I could find to host this event is the Whilton Mill motorsports venue in Northamptonshire. They have 2 Kart tracks, a rally stage, all sorts..
So I thought we could make a whole afternoon / evening of it and have a BBQ, Bar, etc.
In order to make it work, well need at least 25 competitors paying around £60 (estimated) which would include the BBQ, and a whole group of us lot as spectators, paying £5 to get in, £10 to be a passenger in a competing car, and about £5 for the BBQ (something like that).
Does it sound doable?
Who would be up for it?
Cheers
Simon

Put me down as a definite for the Rally X. Someone has to be the worst driver of the day.
I'll bring a spectator as well.

Hi Chaps
Insurance..
OK.. it is very unlikely that your road insurance will cover you.. but I think I will be able to arrange insurance through Egger Lawson.
I will find out what kind of cost it will be, then it's up to you..
One thing I will say, is that myself and Rob Mac will be paying VERY close attention to the course, and keeping it relatively low speed and absolutely as safe as possible. It's just for fun.
I've driven on the field and it's very smooth. There are *some* bumps, but nothing a scoob can't handle, and we'll make sure they are at slow points on the stage and try to go around them anyway.
We may even allow pace notes (which will be provided) so you can take a co-driver with you.

Sounds fine with me
We just need SDB to sort it out now, what could be taking him so long?

Simon,
You moaning tit....put me down provisionly.
I can't see insurance being required, cause only one car will be on the course at once. Unless your gonna drive like me........through the cones as apposed to round them!!!!!!!!!
Shaun.
For FORD stuff, including other useful info

Well up for that. Flying the cossie flag if thats ok with SDB or I might bring the Astra. I'm sure I will be able to lay down 50 odd bhp of nitrous onto grass with no problem!
Seriously, i WANT TO COMPETE. Let me know the date.

Shaun - Perhaps you can bring along 20 or so other Cossies to use instead of cones - you Cossie drivers can stay in your cars - you should be used to Scoobs flashing past you by now!
Shaun
I have some original footage of the Escort cossie rally car - the promotional stuff as used by ford - Do you want a copy on VHS?
