Question

Thinking of trading in my clio 172 for a new 4 door WRX, does anyone know if a new model is due out soon and a good dealer in essex.

Cheers

Subaru usually release their new models around October - November each year. I'd say it will be the same again this year.

Thanks wrexy,
I wonder what will be changed this time...

anyway I'm thinking of chopping in the 172 cos it's just not tuneable, I've herd that with a few mods you can get 240hp from a new WRX without much bother, is this true.

You will certainly get the ability to tinker with the new WRX. Its nice in that with the old shape pretty much everything has been done and your spoilt for choice.

You have a number of options to tune the car.

1. Prodrive performance pack 242bhp and 260lbft

2. Full SS exhaust for about 235bhp and 235-240lbft

3. Link for the car soon. God knows what Mr Rawle will extract

There is three for starters.

Enjoy the modding

I suppose it depends on how far you go with your tinkering ))
At least I can spread/hide the cost over time by tinkering and have fun doing it.

Yep sounds about right, dont labour the engine and let it warm up and cool down. Dont use more than 3,000 until the engine is nice and warm and the oil has had time to circulate.

On my 98 I was told not to redline it during the first 1000 miles but towards the end of the 1000 miles to increase the revs a bit but dont hold them. After about 800 I played up to about 5000 rpm occasionally (ie. not all the time) but this must be your decision.

After the service dont redline it either, just build 500 rpm at a time for the next few hundred miles at a time.

No use in doing 4000 rpm at 999 miles ----> service -----> then 7000 rpm bouncing of rev limiter, its not good .

Just take it easy and remember the impreza engine can take 8000 miles before it starts to really loosen up.

spudgun,
I will take your advice and steer clear of osborne in colchester, it's nice to be able to relay info on bad dealers cos I hate letting anyone work on my cars.
I want a new car so that means a bug eye one I think, I just don't want to buy one today and see a new model come out in a few months with extra goodies for the same money.
A supermarket sounds good, but do they take trade-ins? I just really hate selling cars private, the time waisters and tyre kickers are a real pain.

Cool

dipster
try a pre my01 with ppp before u get bugeye, it'll give u summat to think about
supermarkets do take trade ins i think, but offer crap part ex.
have u tried selling back to the dealer? i have done this with cars of mine before, that way u go in as a cash buyer to subaru, and avoid test pilots
chins is the man to speak to about buying and selling, he's helped me before
just dont discount pre my01, or jap imports either, try them all

Not a lot of movement on the price although did get a sony head unit and autochanger thrown in, plus pollen filter (as a hayfever sufferer vital!!). Moved em on finance a lot though. FXXXing cowboys!! Go in there blind with the missus when we test drove one together - best they can give you is 12.2% apr. Do your research, get an offer of 9.8% from M+S then when I went to buy it - low and behold they can match it. I wish I had gone in there with an apr already confirmed of 7%!!! I bet they would've matched it!!!!

Reckon they would move on the list too if it meant the difference between buy or not. Not by much, maybe a grand tops. I just find it difficult to stay objective after driving one of the beasts!!!!

I am getting on the new plates - reckon they look better and won't date as much. So 1 Sept delivery, gives me time to save the deposit!!! I have no idea on lead times, sorry.

You looking at getting one too?

If you mean new model as in sti, yeah we did. I only need 215bhp, 260bhp would be too much insurance. I need something I can run round family and for work. 260bhp is too much, maybe upgrade mine or trade up later. I leave behind a long list of hot hatches that just ain't hot anymore, I'll wait for a while longer for the sti.

If there is another one other than the sti I will review my decision!!!!!

gaz for about 1600 you can have warranted 240 bhp prodrive kit so you can be pretty close. NOTE this will affect your insurance though
