Wrong thread syndrome?

Mixed feelings about Ken Clarke. He is a Maggie throwback, but without the ***** But it is a very brave move (but potentially a calculated, clever risk) to try and win the leadership of a euro-scpetic party with such a strong (and IMHO wrong) pro-europeean standpoint. But Euro mis-guidence aside, he is a classic tory, with a strong following from the Maggie era.

Portillo is the man for the job though!!

Jonathon's letter in Autocar, 20th June, Page 34

"Imprezzed" By UK300
After six months away from the fold, I decided it was time to get a sixth Impreza. Previously I owned a P1, and regretted the decision to sell it. My options were another P1 or the Prodrive UK300. I've just had the chance to drive both cras back to back on the same mixture if A and B-roads. On British roads it didn't feel like there was much between the P1 and UK300 - although the superior noise reduction of the UK300 masked the feeling of speed.
Prior to tryingthe UK300, I didn't think there was Japanese car that would handle British roads as well as the P1. What I found was that the UK300, with its stiffer chassis, better damping and less understeer, was quicker on the road. While I still feel the P1 is a great car, my order went for the Prodrive UK300. Yes, I wish Subaru UK wouldn't take customers for a ride on the price, but now I'm counting the days until a nice new Scooby sits on my drive.

- Chins gets fame at last

Will try and get it scanned if anyone wants a copy to frame

Nice one!

What's happening to the 330D?

Cheers

Isn't it obvious?

He had a P1 - 1000 of them, so not exclusive.

330d. Must only be 330 of them. Still too many...

UK300? Only 300? Marvellous

My wife has a Clio 1.2 if you're interested. Such exclusivity would normally come at a price, but I think she may even consider a straight swap for the UK300

Good thinking - but the Clio 1.2 means they have made 1.2 MILLION of them.....

Cool

How about a swap for my Renault 4 then? Still got genuine OEM wooden strips down the side to fend of supermarket smashers

????? - Jonathon (aka Chins) never had a 330d Are you getting Chins and Me mixed up??

If you are on about my 330d, nothing is 'happening' to it, apart an imflamation of the wallet

Oh and I am sure there are far more than 330 330d's although only just over 100 330d Tourings I have an unusual occurence! - a rare 3-series

Even more rare: keen drivers rate 'em, too

If changing car, the 330D touring would definitely be on the shortlist. Dunno what else would be on there - 22b (well, why not?), Evo VII, STI wagon, ... All would involve significant searches down the back of the sofa though

Question

Do you think that Kenneth Clarke should gamble his reputation as the most active conservative euro-enthusiast and that it will not disqualify him from leading a predominantly eurosceptic party, and that party members will see him as the person most likely to revive them after two elections catastrophes..

I was just wondering ...

Red face

They did edit the letter, and took out a number of things I said that were nice about the P1. I thought their original write up on the PPP UK300 was crap. IMHO the guy Ben that wrote it had never driven a P1.

It was nice to see that our very old Rob Mac agreed with my comments in the letter. Wonder if he will feel the same after a week running against the P1 in the UK300
