If you can't afford a Scooby, then get a SAXO VTS. Wow, I drove my friend's VTS this morning. 0-60 in just over 7 secs. Handles like a dream. Dare I say it - as much if not more fun than a Scooby. I think I should get one for the wife.

Kevin,

I did get a VTS for my wife - we both love it. It is loads of fun but definitely not as quick across country as the Scooby. You can buy a new one from the supermarkets for about £10,600 which is a real bargain. It is great for humbling Golf VR6 drivers up hills and humbles most things on (dry) roundabouts.

MY99 turbo and VTS - we have permanent smiles !

Get a Peugeot 106 GTI instead of the VTS. It even handles better and looks better inside en out IMHO.

Or else get a BMW E30 M3. Not cheap in running though!

I almost bought a 106GTI for the wife a couple of years back. I had long test drives in both the VTS and 106. I really wanted to like the VTS, but the 106 was more fun and felt safer. Bought a 306GTI 6 in the end. Still miss it.

Due to the fact that the wife now insists on 5 doors a Polo GTI arrives tomorrow. Not as good as some other cars, but there not much choice out there.

Jonathan,

You could have bought a Renault Clio Sport. Seems to me that 172 hp in a small car is serious fun! It will be tested against the competition on Top Gear this Thursday.

There were a lot of other cars I would of prefered. The Clio would of been at the top. Only 3 doors though.

VTS's rule! (sorry, very max P comment!)

My previous car was a VTS, lovely little motor, screaming fun. I miss her awfuly, but it was a bit too small for me (6' 4"), girlyfriend and her two kiddies, even my corsa was bigger!

I'm with you on that one - I think that was the best fun we ever had with a car - the Scooby's great but the 205 1.9 was way ahead of it's time and class we still feel the same about it.

I still miss my previous car - Renault Clio Williams mk1. Very chuckable and very nearly as quick around the twisty bits as my scooby.
Also with the exclusivity it enjoys, it held its value like NO other hot hatch before it. I owned mine more than 2 years, yet lost less than 15% of what I originally paid. I'd have one back (as a second car) tomorrow....

Well speaking as a 106GTI owner I can safely say it is far better than the Golf VR6 I had last and it goes like stink !! wheel spin is a bit of a problem in the wet but in the dry if flys round corners like the wind. Just hope my new Scoob will be as much fun.

P.S. if anyone fancies a real bargain and a immaculate car mine is for sale !!!! send me a mail
