The neighbours been egging me on for a race.. P1 v Escort Cosworth.
He's been egging me on for a boost up the Causeway Bypass, nr Maldon, Essex...I think if we did it, we'd kill ourselves. I wouldn't give in and I'd take unessesary risks, and I think he'd rather total his car, than loose to the scoob.

I took him out in it last night.... taking it easy letting it warm up for 15 mins, toddling around town, and off boost...

Open Roundabout Ahead...... no cars.... 3rd gear @ 30 Mph...... a flick of the wrist on the quickshift, down into second, BOOST ON, he screamed FU*K ME, infact all the way up to 3 figures, before I backed off for another roundabout, this is quick he was shouting.... she was pulling well.

Up the bypass we go, RS Turbo, a white cheesy one, wearing a set of 18" super T's tries to give me a buzz, my neighbour, with the cossie, was astounded on how much torque the P1 has, whilst showing him the Speedo rises quicker than the rev counter ;-) the RS.. well didn't see him for 2 mins :-)

We pulled up outside our house, he gets out, and looks really, and I mean really gutted/surprised..... his Cossie aint the gem he thought it was, after spending over 2K on performance mods, he commented on the quick shift in the P1, seemed allot more better than his new "FORD QUICK SHIFT", mmmmm the cossie is certainly outclassed, out performed,hasnt got what it takes to beat the P1.................

The only real way is a drag style race, but best leave that for the race track....

 

All depends on the driver...........
Im not the best driver in the world,but when racing my dad in his 996 carrera 4,I leave him every time,Im drivin MY01 WRX.
I also win every time when my mum is drivin.......
They are 64,and 62 respectivley.

The true way to test a car against another is to track both the cars,on 3-4 laps with you drivin them both

Not a chance,he drives with the dogs in the back,pipe,flat cap,slippers,doesnt use sixth gear thinks its a gimmick

From the topic I expected this to be a thread about a noisy Cosworth starting its engine early in the morning and the neighbours complaining.

I am doing that with my bike at the moment.. 670bhp per tonne through a race exhaust is difficult to keep quiet..

I think the COSWORTH history and image still holds a lot of water as it was the first powerful and affordable car that really caught the attention of everyone, and the Escort supported that. So everyone thinks they are faster than they really are.. not that they are slow and there are exceptions.. but the modern equivalent is faster without a doubt.

nope no lie, he was impressed, i think cos the amount of torque, its not just a quick woosh and dies off at 5,000rpm.. it keeps going. He admits that the pulling power seems alot more than the cossie..... i reckon hes gonna go MITSI next, Evo 7.... :-( or M3, but i told him if the M3 comes in, then you have to take on a whle new personality, of an *** !!! :-)
