Don't forget though that the cheapo one-shot cameras often have a limited shelf life.

Best to replace them yearly rather than find it doesn't work when you need it!

barge's post about being pulled below made me wonder how many of you carry a camera in your car to record incidents, etc? Have any of you been able to use the photos as evidence for anything?

Have camera in the car - disposable £5 thing, never needed, but there just in case.

Saw one being used a couple of weeks ago after the guy had been taken out at a set of traffic lights.

Once got run into in E. London one night. Refused to get out the car 'til plod showed up & then proceeded to take photos of the cars in situ. Look of surprise on chaps face was recorded too! He had been trying to do a u-turn on top of a pedestrian crossing

He paid cash in full for the damage (over £1000) the following week

I've had a couple of incidents where a camera would have proved useful. One where, at the scene, it was obvious that it was the other guys fault. But, on getting home, he changed his story. Ended up knock for knock when it was completely his fault. The other was when another person ran into me, then gave a false set of details. If I hadn't been driving someone elses company car, I would have had to claim on my own insurance.

I now carry a disposable camera in the glove box!

If you need to use a camera, make sure you take a picture of the other driver, as well as the scene, cars etc.

Once ran over an "un-seated" cats eye, whilst overtaking a lorry. It flew in the air, narrowly missing his cab, punctured my left rear and completely destroyed my 16" alloy. I walked back up the road with my camera and took pix of the hole in the road and of the cats eye in the grass verge. My wheel etc. Council paid up in full, no argument A camera in the car is a great idea.

Placing a vid-camera rear facing in the car also has surprising effects.

Brickboy,

i've had various disposable flash cameras in my glove box for several years now. Never had to use them (touch wood), but worth the tenner every two years that they cost. Compare that to tyres, pertrol, insurance - sounds a _very_ good deal!
