Cool

Has anyone got experience of adding a Prodrive Performance Pack to a Standard UK T Reg '99 UK spec Turbo 2000 (which currently has SS Back Box) ?

I have been quoted 2K for back two exhaust sections, uprated ECU and modified air intake.

Quoted improvements @ ???? rpm

BHP 215 to 245
Torque 215 to 262

I guess I should keep the original ECU in case I decide to move up to a P1 and want to transfer the pack - I assume this is possible ?

Any advise would be very welcome.

I probably shouldn't admit this but until I bought the Scoob I really didn't have any interest in BHP, Torque etc. Previous car was a Pug 306 GTi which was OK. Am I going to REALLY REALLY Notice an extra 30 Brake / 47 Torque ??

Will it be enough for me or am I just going to end up shelling out shed loads more in another year or so on some other tweak to keep me grinning from ear to ear cos I love driving the car ?

I have just re - read the paragraph above - I already know the answer - Pass the cheque book !!

PPP on the 99 is 237 BHP and 258 lbft. Warranty is the plus point.

Have a look in Drivetrain forum for other options.

The PPP backbox is a backwards step from your Scoobysport in terms of restrictiveness and hence power and torque, and the centre section supplied with the PPP is restrictive as well. Samco intercooler hose is about £80. Have a look at Scoobysport, Scoobymania for these sorts of bits.

If you want to get more performance than the PPP as cheaply as possible, get an HKS FCD (£100), Dawes MBC (£36), Magnex resonated centre (£120), any downpipe (£180) and the intercooler hose (£80).

Another option is a second hand PPP ECU, or look at alternative aftermarket ECU solutions.

If you want it to really fly buy a bigger turbo, the breathing mods as discussed and a custom mapped ECU. You could do this for the price of a PPP. See the dyno site for mods that people have done and the results.

If your moving upto a P1 which is 280BHP why would you want the PPP on it?

You could sell the pack second hand but to be honest it would probably be better left on the car. As its out of warranty (assuming it is) there are cheaper alternatives without going mad .

HKS Fuel cut defender - allows you to raise fuel cut and run higher boost. The fuelling is MAF based and within reason copes fine. However, by remapping you can also make particular gains from richening and advancing low down and leaning slightly under full boost. But the PPP is richer than the MY99 ECU, so the gains are really on the boost with a small part coming from a little extra ignition advance. The spool up area is still left lean and retarded. PPP keeps your warranty though.

Talking

if the PPP back box is a backward step wouldn't I be better just changing the mid section and having the ECU / Air mods done and keep the SS back box ?

I assume that would drop the price a little

They'll only sell it you as a package. The PPP/STi centre is also a bit restrictive.

Wink

Nichop. I will do a bit more research b4 deciding which mods to go 4. If you get any info / advise - let me know.

I'd now be tempted to just go for the uprated ECU & New air filter system. gotta save a few Quid on the full ppp quote ! I'm not made of dosh !

I'm starting with a no-mods MY99. Like u not made of money and want to look at handling also. Was going to extend warranty but don't reckon i'll bother, therefore PPP seems excessive. Only thing is I love the PPP sound and don't want anything louder than this. If I can derestrict the middle and back pieces of the exhaust (second hand PPP maybe) and then an ECU like tek2 this will be plenty for me. Don't want maximum power at expensive of durability.
Let me know how u get on. Buy mine off co in Sept and this is when will do mods.
