I think I may have a problem ......

When I'm driving along , change gear and there is a sound of air escaping just after gear change , but the car seems to run ok . I've looked for anything obvious , i.e. pipes come loose , but to no avail . It also happens if I drive in second gear rev up and let the car slow down by itself , but this time the sound of air escaping is more prolonged and escapes in spurts .

Any ideas ???????

Thanks in advance,

Nate.

Question

Are you being serious?

Incase you are, its the dump value on the turbo...

if you're not... muppet!

Hmmm, dont want this to come across as patronising !

Have you ever driven a turbo car before ?

How long have you had the car, ie has it done this since you first got it ?

Its probably just the blow off/air bypass/dump valve working, or the car may have an induction kit fitted!

more pronounced with a standard exhaust and the window open. I only hear mine with the drivers window open. If you are not getting much boost then the recirculating valve maybe leaking. Assuming you have not had it from new may have a aftermarket dump-to-atmos dump valve

Totally different noise , jus' started today , (NOT A MUPPET THREAD) , yes I fitted an induction kit about 2-3 weeks ago , but this sounds different , the hiss of air comes after I would expect the dump valve to have finished (Bailey dump valve) .

Any more comments..............??

nate,

i never wanted to bring this up, as i feel muppetised already , probably cause of the better weather (got my window open), but you know my almost standard my00, i can hear a pronounced air escape noise as i let off the power / change up, presumed to be the dump valve, but i wasn't sure i should be able to hear it as it's not 'to atmosphere', can't be heard by passenger though with window open also, pop by the shop and let me know what you find out mate or if i can help at all .
