Question

And I don't mean the cost of a MY01-

My 1k service is booked for next week and after reading a thread about the ECU needing some 'serious right boot' and 3-5k before it loosens up, I'm wondering how I should be driving during this interim between 1k and 5k. I've never owned a turbo before, so I'm not sure when I should be changing up (But I'm looking forward to finding out ) or what band I should keep the rev's in round corners.

Any good advice would be appreciated (Preferably before next Tuesday when I have the Service!!)

Thanks,

Scooby-dude

Once you have had the 1k service (where the thin 'running-in' oil gets replaced for full spec) you can unleash the beast. It will take 5k possibly more, but there is no need to drive steadily for that time - the harder you drive, the quicker it will loosen up

BUT if you have kept ridgidly to the 4000rpm limit, don't suddenly redline it all the way home. Let the engine warm through, and limit the redlines for the first few miles - but only the first FEW miles

You don't get the best performasnce from the car by redlining it anyway.

Have fun finding out what works best
