Wrong forum, wrong car, wrong everything!!!! Flame me later guys, but i'm sorry I need a quick answer!!! Simon...you can beat me up later!!!
Cem,
Could you tell me who you are insured with for your EVO, and possibly how much your premimum is. I have been to look at a double mint GSR EVO6 today and need some ideas of premium. Oh by the way, it is a RALIART UK car (which I think is the same as yours).
Regards,
Shaun.

Shaun,
I have a modded Evo6 import. I'm insured with Axa, one of the few companies who will cover the car! Premium is circa 1400, but I have a bad postcode. I also found that Norwich Union, Tesco and Rum* will cover, most need tracker devices.

Try Bell Direct. I have a Ralliart Evo 6 GSR, 4 months old. I'm 30 years old, decent post code, full protected NCB. Premium is approx £800, no requirements for tracker, or even to garage the car. For some reason I fail to comprehend, Evos which are a darker shade of grey that Ralliart ones can cost a lot more to insure.

Thanks guys!!!
I don't suppose you have the telephone numbers handy do ya!!! I need to get a resonable quote by lunchtime tomorrow, as the car may be gone to somebody else by the end of the day.
Because of the fact it is a UK car, I expected a figure of around £800. Looks like my assumptions were right!!

Cem,
Yeah, yeah!!!!!
Just been on the LTR BBS though and getting quite a bad feeling on modding 'em. It looks like even adding a replacement panel filter (inductions kits are crap on any turbo car!!! ) and turbo back pipe can cause problems!!!! And I thought Scooby were bad, so much for Cossies being unreliable!!!
I've always liked them mate, and one has come up at a good price.........so you never know!!!
Have you the phone number for Schofield???
Gary,
Thanks.

Hi Shaun,
With reference to the problems when modding an Evo. I've just left the Subaru fold, and taken the Evo plunge, and have been looking in this a bit.
From what I can gather, the 'problems' that arise when fitting filters/induction kits etc. are down to the engine overboosting which causes the ECU to cut the fuel. This can now happen because you've improved the engine operating conditions by fitting these addons. To be honest, this overboost situation can even occur on a totally unmodded car, given the right environmental conditions (temp., air density etc.).
Personally, I've not had this happen to mine at all, but others have.
If you really want to mod. the car, then you'll need to get a Ralliart ECU (or equivalent) to go with any other tuning bits. This allows higher boost, and hence the problem goes away. If you do this, don't forget to go for the strengthened ARP con rod bolts (which Ralliart would always recommend).
The only problem with modding an Evo at the moment is that pretty much any mods will void the Mitsubishi UK warranty. When I spoke to Ralliart about this, they said that all you can get away with at the moment is an induction kit and Super Drager exhaust, both of which must be supplied and fitted by Ralliart. They are trying to get Mitsubishi to officially sanction the Stage 1 conversion (ECU, Exhaust, Induction kit, ARP bolts, turbo hoses), but so far they've not had any luck.
The trouble is, if you go for the induction kit/exhaust, you might get overboost problems. Catch 22.......
Andy.

I was also under the impressions that you should go for the ARP bolts, even if you stick an induction kit and Exhaust on Is this true......If it is, I am starting to go off the idea!!!

Bagpuss,
Is the Superdragger now officially sanctioned by Ralliart as a non-warranty-voiding mod, or is it still a case of "turn a blind eye to it"? If it's the former, I may have to invest in one at the 4500 mile service next month
Cheers,
Gary.

So far so good with the insurance quotes.....everybody else was WAY OFF, apart from Bell Direct £928.00 without a Tracker!!!
Need to do some more thinking as £20,000.00+ is alot to throw at a weekend car....especially someone that drives like a *****. Also the missus wants me to keep the Escort Cossie.....tough decision...Missus or Car!!!!!
Cem,
Can you email me your contact no. I might just need to give you a bell.
Regards,
Shaun.

Matt,
Your right mate I wondered why they both use the same web quote system!!!! They were definatley the cheapest though!!!!
Speaking to the different insurers though, it was surprising to find out that the UK ones are still really classed as an IMPORT. Something to do with the fact they where never official built for the UK market and not wildly available. Sounds pathetic to me really. Some things you just can't win!!! Gawd knows how much an import would cost to insure.........I remember last year (just before I bought the Cossie), I asked for a quote on an EVO5 RS.....the cheapest was £2500.00, and that was for an old naffer like me!!!!!!!!!!
