Hello Phill
Mods are generally fine , the sticking point is often no downpipe cats , is that the issue ? If so worth buying a used on ebay , prodrive maybe , and fit for mot , or go permanent and then get a re map done 👍

hi, the main thing i am worried about is the loudness of the exhaust, not sure if its decatted. it has a stand alone apexi ecu. is an early 1993 wrx subject to emissions like newer cars? it has no lights on the dash, its just having new callipers pads and disc all round and new drop links and arb bushes. hopefully that sorts any suspension issues. rust could also be an issue (fingers crossed)

So best thing is , put it in for an mot and see if it passes , you won’t know till you try , I’ve never had an issue with noise , and that’s on a straight through exhaust on a 6.2 litre engine , so fingers crossed 👍

Drill 2 holes in the end of your pipe, at 90 degrees to each other. Stuff some wire wool up your pipe and put a nail in each pair of holes to hold it in.
After the test, remove the nails and the exhaust blows it out.

Just ask before you book in if it's too loud to pass, assuming it has a cat in. Shame you can't get a duel system, cat and quiet the flick a switch to straight 3" I'd like that, probably need 2 maps though.

You can modify the tail pipe , som are off the shelf systems , mine is a v8 is either cat and straight pipe or through a set of silencers , makes a big difference , flick of a switch it’s my quietest car or my loudest car , there were electronic valves for sale on ebay a while ago , about 80 or 90 £ or so
