Default XXR 527

Hi guys,

I am looking at 527s for my wagon classic. However debating whether to go 17 or 18. I don’t want to use any arch extensions etc. I don’t mind stretched tyres but from I can see. 17x8.25 ET35 is the right fitment? Does anyone have any pics of there wagon on Xxr classics only

Thank you

If you don’t want to do any arch modifications I’d go with the size you suggest any wider you’ll get arch rub. I had 8.75 wide and had to have the arches rolled on a newage. If you went with 18’s ride would be a little ‘crashy’ over pot holes etc and would defo need a stretch tyre. If comfort is what you like stick with 17’s and proper size tyres win win all round

Thanks for that. The days of wild fitment are long gone and now that I’m back in a classic, I want it to be aggressive but not over the top. So the 17x8.25 35 should be a direct fitment with no issues at all correct?

I will lower the car on springs but that’s about it…

Am pretty certain with that size you’ll be fine but others who have previously fitted these to a classic could confirm.
When adding lowering springs you may need longer camber bolts but still keep the quality ride and no stretch tyre which in my experience the Impreza feels better on.

hope this helps mate

Et35 offset is too low

Std is et53 on a 7inch wheel so et35 on 8.25inch will scrub i suspect

Agree et35 8.75 wide running on tein coil overs longer camber bolts no rubbing issues at all.

Guys, These foresters look insane! I dont know why people hate on the 527s, they look fantastic on imprezas. Its a shame no one has come front with any on classics although i have seen them on there before.

With the pics sent through, these are both 18s however, can i just confirm is it 8.75 i should go for in 18' or 17x8.25. I need clarity so i dont make a mistake in ordering the right ones. I am not going to drop the car silly, but only on springs with possible stretch tyres...

Option 1: XXR 527 18 X 8.75 - ET35 - 5 X 114.3 + 100 PCD - GOLD / XR527-1887-2GL2 (japshop.co.uk)
Option 2: XXR 527 17 X 8.25 - ET35 - 5 X 100 + 114.3 PCD - GOLD / XR527-1782-2GL (japshop.co.uk)

Cheers

I think it depends on if you want the wider look out the arch as that is what the 8.75 wide will do but there will defo be arch rub. I also ran these on my Impreza and it needed the arches rolled when lowered

hope this helps mate

Thats a beaut mate. Can you confirm yours in that picture are the 18x8.75 et35

I remember on my wagon bug eye i had 17s but i believe they were 8.25 and fitted lovely even when lowered. Im just thinking the 8.75 et35 will stick out to much on a classic wagon?

Yes they were 18 8.75 running stretch tyre lowered with eibach camber bolts.

hopefully someone with a wagon who ran these is still on the forum as this is going back over 6/7 years ago

I’d take Alyn’s advice one this “stockcar” not a lot he doesn’t know about these cars so he’ll be spot on if he says it won’t work.

If that’s the size you want maybe look at doing some arch work mate to make them fit or buy similar wheels correct off set/size

you're completely missing the point its not about it being 17 or 18 inch - its the width and offset is going to cause you grief on a classic

you may as well buy a set of cheap £100 VAG wheels (of marketplace or likes) which will be 5x100 17x7 (or7.5) but more importantly et35 - and TEST fit them on your car to see if they scrub - which i suspect even they will rather than wasting near 10x the money buying something that'll look great parked but unable to drive.

I understand it is the width and offset.

I found this, however they are JR rims and here is the article. As mentioned before i will not be slamming the car. maybe lowering a tiny bit on springs.

That Frozen White Subaru Impreza STI - Wangan Warriors

17x8.25 et 35 fit perfect

this is the same fitment as xxr. so they must fit?

  • Rolled and slightly flared arches all round
So no they don't just fit unfortunately

poke n stretch isnt the concern - everyone here is telling you about the fact theyll scrub

poke n stretch is great parked up - then you go over 40mph round a bend and the rear suspension compresses and the rear scrubs chewing tyres and renders the purpose of the car useless as its undriveable.

Just buy them. i think its the only way you'll learn/understand

205 tyres on a 8.25 rim is a bit too much stretch and all the arches rolled AND flared/pulled and significant camber by the looks of it
