I’m currently running 225/40/18 continentals on 9” wheels. The car has tein coilovers and I may lower it further. Would a 235/40/18 cause rubbing issues? I presume they would. Anyway, 225/40/18 are slightly stretched but nothing extreme. I’m tempted to get PS4S as they are highly rated. Any other suggestions? Thanks!
have Rainsport3's on the Foz and has been used in all weathers from baking tar to snow, monsoon rain and standing water and they never miss a beat........
party trick is how hard it can be driven in pi%%ing rain and just laps it up

f1 supersport are better, i had ad08r before f1's
and You can not buy them anymore ,replaced by ad08rs
Zeknova makes them in the same tread pattern and soft compound
ad08r
f1 SS
I ran PS4's on my M2, they have incredible grip both in the dry and the wet. One thing i did notice though, they have softer side walls which makes the back end feel a bit loose, its a bit unnerving at first when you first experience it as you think it's something to do with the suspension thats gone wrong, no it was the softer walled tyres.
if the tyre walls are softer just raise the tyre pressure a bit 2 or 3 psi , i run a monaro which is very sensitive the the tyre wall strength , i put snow tyres on once which proved to be exiting 😂👍 the vredestien ultrac are very good the reviews are up there with michelin pilot super sports plus the michelin replacement the ps4 , have a look on tyrereviews , black circles are selling them at the moment , grip is very good , i have 500 bhp through a set of rear tyres and they are as good as the super sport but way cheaper , every thing i’m running at the mo including the fsti are on the vredestien , the extra width 10 mm so in theory 5 mm on each side should be fine just have a quick check on arch and shock clearance , one fsti is on 225/40/18 next 235/40/18 , then 235/40/19 it does catch with weight in the back but it’s more down to wheel sticking out than the tyre , it’s like running a wide track fsti , handling is improved but steering is a bit more sensitive at higher speeds 😁👍
ultrac vorti costs 80 per tyre plus fitting, we have them on focus ecoboost in 235mm ,very good tyres but for Impreza I will choose cheaper and better f1SS
I had egal F1 on my standard hawk alloys ans when changing to PFF's I was told to get Vorti + their new tyre but the same price as the Vorti R. God they are great.
I also use Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersports which are great in both dry and wet and have superb steering feel.
I'd have gone for the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S which are a little more comfortable than the F1 Supersports but they weren't available in 245/40/18.

What surprised me after using the PS4 (not PS4S) is the wet/damp braking is almost if not near as good as dry! After having a couple of emergency stop and late brake situations both at high and low speeds where I was left thinking how the hell did I manage to stop (got a dash cam clip of me diving past a taxi at 35ish mph who then did a U-turn as I was almost alongside him ).
One thing they complained about was during the heatwave. They got really squirmy under hard braking. Not unstable, but as if the pressures were a bit low. But it was 35degrees outside and the tyres were too hot to touch (so 50+ degrees) so I think given the British climate this is a rarity. Probably not so good from hard trackday use then.
if the tyre walls are softer just raise the tyre pressure a bit 2 or 3 psi
That defeats the object of how they were designed, they are designed to have a softer tyre wall which then spreads the rubber more on the road more. If you take the PSI up they won't spread as much and will become stiffer, they are at their optimim with the recommended pressures.

I never really noticed that under breaking Ali, not on the PS4S anyway. Yeh it must be a bit unnerving knowing it could slide on coming upto a junction or a roundabout.
on the connect of running higher tyre pressure the monaro you need to as it sorts out the back end as it can be loose so i run a higher pressure , the three fsti are all run slightly higher than standard , fuel economy is improved plus handling as the car rolls less , the monaro change is 2 or 3 psi which is all it needs to improve things , the fsti 35/36 front 33 rear , prodrive suggested running higher pressure than standard on a scooby so they can’t be wrong , a higher pressure is going to have little impact on a contact patch but if it reduces roll and too much flex in a tyre well worth doing plus the added benefit of better mpg 👍

Monaro and loose back end. I remember that well LOL; Damn thing was a slippery eel in the Autumn damp if I had less than half a tank of fuel, especially with the P-Zero Rossos: Full tank and some rear passengers would keep it planted and stop trying to wheel spin in the first four gears

Would you explain this again, please: I'm not quite with you.
my monaro can be exciting , it’s only na but still putting out 440bhp and about the same foot pound , the vredestien work well on the car i run them around 36 ish and tyre wear is good , so no back end loose 😂 suspension issues , the maloo 500bhp and same foot pound , same tyres just way bigger again , generally very controlled but i get wheel spin up to 106 mph in the damp but well behaved in the dry , on an airport drag strip recently it was slightly damp so was spinning on most lower gears and every gear change up to 5th , 0 to 155 mph in a mile 😁👍😂 , i would always opt for a stiffer tyre wall as that helps the handling , as stated above prodrive on scoobies
said run higher pressures , a few psi is going to have limited effect on the size of a contact patch of a tyre

Did you ever have the VXR remapped to remove the throttle dampening/restriction below 3000rpm in the first three gears; Makes thing even more interesting
Drove a new Mustang 5.0 GT (manual) a few weeks back and was reminded: Similar power delivery, maybe a bit more civilised.
it’s the old ls1 with cable not wire/electronic driven so i don’t think it has the dampener , i’m pretty sure if it did it’s no longer there after the remap , it’s more than lively even less than 3000 rpm 😂 it had a 4k £ focus tuning pack fitted by the previous owner which gave it an extra 100 bhp in a na engine , i took another monaro owner out in it who described it as an animal , but it is very civilised when you want it to be at 36 mpg 👍
