I was graced with a visit from Mr McRae and his wife yesterday at my work, you couldn’t meet a nicer couple. My colleague sold him one of our motor homes from Struan Motors Perth last week and he collected it yesterday, after he stopped and pointed at my pride and joy spec c! We cracked a few jokes back and forth then I asked if he could spare me two minutes before he left. Not a problem he said ,though it turned into an extra 30 minutes! Once he had been shown his new big bus I explained to him that Imprezas are my main addiction in life and this one is by far my favourite,he had never seen a Spec C before. His wife told us a great story of her other son Alistair living out in Australia with his 16 year old son Max. The youngster recently entered a rally out there in an old Scoob and if it wasn’t for the fuel pump failing,Max would’ve won the adult event! Jimmy was interested in my car history then they mentioned the anniversary event that should’ve taken place at Knockhill last year,I replied yes,I was going to that but after my first wedding date was cancelled in April 2020 the next date we tried for was in October on the same bloody weekend as the McRae event! I explained to my future wife that that is a big problem for me.......
Then came Jimmys best one liner of the day. I mentioned that when my woman talks to friends she says”oh,i’m Under no illusion that I probably am behind the Impreza at number one spot,Rangers his team at number two and at best make third”.".............Jimmys reply, that’s really good,so she makes the podium then !
I know a lot of people say their car is a one off due the paint style or mods, but I really do believe now that with Jimmys autograph on my sun visor,my car is a one off! Considering I was at work,it was an amazing afternoon.

I didn’t put the pics and story up to start a football argument Joe but if you mean I look like a champion.......... thanks very much.
The thread is clearly about the Mcraes and a little insight into the former world champions father.

I love that one liner from him lol, i bet when you went to work you would never have imagined your day would turn out like that.. What a really nice guy, chatting to you about your car, cracking a few jokes and signing the sun visor.

Spoke to Jimmy a couple of times at goodwood fos a few years back. Quiet practise day not many people around had a bit of a laugh and joke with him while he was lining up to take one of Colins Legacy rally cars around, my misses was trying to blag a ride around the stage but he wouldn’t have it! Nice fella though.

A friend of ours did win a ride around the stage with Petter Solberg in his 2002 Impreza wrc car but I digress.
