Default Type R door cards

Any ideas on how much I should expect to pay for type R door cards (fronts only)? Looking to replace mine as they were ruined by a Subaru 'specialist' a few years ago.

You've got to get them yet and it could be eye wateringly expensive.

Where can you get them? Mine have cracked on the handles due to heat and age, the rest of the card is fine.

After an extensive search online, the door cards have been discontinued so I'll have to settle for second-hand items. What's the going rate for used cards?

Mine were mint before they were just thrown on the workshop floor by so-called specialist and marked near the speaker grilles and leather sections which were scraped off filled in with marker pen!

I'm missing the cap/cover behind the handle. No longer available even from Japan so I guess I'll have to live with it. I've been looking for full sets of door cards too but they rarely come up.

If it was more of a race car there are some carbon fibre door cards though.

Think he means the wee plastic tab that clips over the screw for the handle.

Yes this one. Tried ordering from Amayama.com but that part isn't available anymore. There propably is stock somewhere in the world. The use the same part in the US for the 2.5rs 2 door. But the dealer here in Sweden cant even find anything on that part number. If anyone could check at a UK dealer I would greatly appreciate it.

Perhaps it's a part that could be 3D printed if they really are not available anymore?

I'll see if I can find the carbon door cards again but they are probably more suited for a rally car than a road car.

Discontinued..

Some door cards I've found, as I said more race than road car.

https://6ovrcrst.com/6oc-gc-carbon-f...a-93-01-coupe/ very odd design

Yes, I searched for the 2.5RS. The US dealers/parts websites have almost every door panel part except the actual door card! Frustrating.

Thanks for the links to the carbon versions. Like you say, they're not ideal for a road car. If they were OE design I would buy them. I might look at retrimming mine but matching the rest of the interior will be difficult.

This might sound stupid to some but have you tried the main dealer. I know the perception is they are expensive and that is somewhat true to an extent.

Some years ago a friend of mine was telling me about the BMW dealership and how he had some parts from them and they were the cheapest around. I was genuinely shocked. Any way I needed a few bits for my roof flap and as you know they are very thin on the ground. Spoke to the Subaru dealership and they they were able to order the parts I needed. Most were a few quid. I was speaking to the guy there and he said anything official Subaru they can get in even if it isn't made anymore because they will reproduce it although it will take some time. He was telling me about a guy who came in looking for a V1 STI intercooler and they were able to get it but it took a few weeks to arrive.

Door cards might not be cheap but you should be able to get it brand new and same with the plastic cover thing.

Have you tried to get the reupholstered.

In my case the main dealer's system can't even recognize that part number (tried at two different occasions so shouldn't be a typo when entering the number) . It may be a case of the part not being fitted to cars in the markets their system cover, or it has indeed been discontinued as Amayama.com suggest.

Just realised you aren't in the UK. My roof flap wasn't a standard fit to UK cars but if I remember correctly their standard system couldn't find it but there is another system they have that was JDM specific and it came up on there. Let me know if you want their details and you can email them.

I have tried 2 dealers and both said they have been discontinued but I will try a few more as you never know.

Thinking of having them reupholstered but getting them to match might be impossible.

Getting old plastic to match is hard. I remember trying to get a wing for my classic and the colours are off when you get the parts next to each other. Thats the issue with these old classics they are getting on a bit. I can PM the place I used and they said they can order JDM items, if they are Subaru parts and no longer in stock they can remanufacture them but there will be a lead time on it.

Hope that helps mate.

Yes mate it's a nightmare when you have an ageing car. With age everything fades mainly because of UV rays. When fitting a body panel (for example a front wing/fender) it's always best to blend the panel next to it so that the new paint isn't so obvious but costs mount up.

Feel free to PM their details. Cheers, fella.
