Default 2.1 gt35??

So iv tried looking through the threads but couldn’t seem to find the answers to this particular question... has anybody got experience with running a gt35 stock location on a built 2.1 with standard sti heads? And what power is realistically achieved? Are the cosworth 11mm headstuds up to the task for this (im assuming) high boost application? Or is it ideally for the chaps running the 14mm headstud conversion?
im on the hunt for that bit more power atm the car is 470bhp which is powered by one of the latest MDX321V’s and iv stumbled across a company that supplies a garret gt35 for stock location applications to subarus.. was wondering how laggy this would be.. I already have boost coming in at 4/4.5k anyway so lag isn’t something im not used to.
im going with the assumption it ‘should’ make 530-550 on vpower just wanted to know what people’s thoughts were as this should seem like a straight forward way of Chasing & hitting over that magic 500 that crucifies our bank accounts!
thanks

I may be wrong but the GT30R can do 500-550 on a 2.1. Whether that's in rotated or std location, Im not sure.

When you say standard STI heads, which STI? The later newage AVCS ones I believe will be more capable than the classic STI heads.

I was planning to run the extreme 11mm studs but have recently decided to go 14mm. Not because A said to or because B did X power on them. I went 14mm because its fit and forget. I could run 2.5Bar on these according to manufacturer...

Have you had a search on the 22b forum? I'd say its more likely you'd find people running GT35's there.

Oh and finally, I didnt know there was such a thing - a std location GT35. Do you have a link?

GT35 is far bigger in general than amid 500's turbo and is more realistic if looking for 600's +............

the limiting factor with most STi heads of whatever age is the 2pce exhaust valves and the valvetrain........

Looking back i wish i paid the extra to get head work done but it was all starting to add up and wanted to limit costs..i was under the impression laterals’ md321v was the equivalent to a gt30 as per turbo dynamics but maybe as i have the 58mm inlet version of the 321v its limiting compared to the 76mm intake Size variant..

A GT35 would be laggy without head work on a 2.1 my friend done something similar but sold the GT35 and got a GT30 and his car was lightning quick.SJ.

Tbh im worried after swapping turbos and getting it mapped that after all that it will make similar if not the same power which will be defeating the object! I wonder if anyone has got back to back dyno graphs of a 2.1 with a gt30 and one with a gt35?!

I'm part way through a 2.1 build on a 2004 sti motor and personally I opted for a GTX3076 gen 2, shouldn't require too much boost hopefully and I believe they are good for up to 550bhp or so.

fantastic Turbo. I ran one of these on my 2.1. I was recommended it by one of the uk’s top mappers. Did 570 at 1.8bar will go well over 600 with boost
I then decided to break the car. So I actually have the turbo for sale, less than 100miles on it, it’s as new. Mine also has a Tial housing that’s ceramic coated, that wasn’t a cheap upgrade

570 on vpower alone? Any head work to compliment it or standard?
