Default modifying a seat base for tall driver

i have a hawk sti and i am just over 6ft 8 so i have very little room in the cabin, im almost about ready to sell the car as im fed up of having no room. i swapped my steering wheel for the damd version which is smaller but my legs are still wrapped around the sides of it.

would it be possible to modify the rails on the seat so it sits further back? headroom isnt actually a problem so much with my seat reclined a little its leg room i struggle with.i can barely fit my finger down by my leg to operate the window switch.

thanks in advance

At 6 ft 8" can you not sit on the rear seats to drive.

Have you ever tried to get into a Lotus Elise Shrek? I'm 6ft tall and blimey that was a challenge. Had to roll myself out of the door onto the road to get out again.

haha no but i once had an xr2 and to get it in 5th gear i had to lift my leg up and jam the lever under it lol.

im actually better off in a coupe as they have longer doors and as such the seats seems to go back further, ive had a few calibras and a c70 t5 and i had 0 issues with room in those. im seriously contemplating a change now, looking at the m4/m3/m5 cars and also the c63 amg 2 door, im really wanting a little comfort now

C63 coupe every time. I've had a few beamers and I end up slightly bored with them after a while. A C63 is next on my hit list.

the only thing that concerns me about cars like this is the unknown...........

how much would an engine build be if it ever happened
gearbox rebuild-how much would that cost

i would only buy with an approved used warranty anyway BUT that means no modifications and i dont think i could live with that.

im at a sort of cross-roads right now and each path has its pro's and con's

with a subaru i am surrounded by specialists, general servicing is cheap and if it ****s itself i know that an engine will be circa £5k.................god only knows how much a v8 would be to rebuiild from the likes of merc/audi/bmw. i really considered a vxr8 but ive just found out that monkfish performance have closed down and they would have been my nearest specialist.

even the mighyt nissan gtr engine rebuild would only be around £8k from litchfield although i dont think i would fit in one of those

i love impreza's and for the £ i dont think anything compares but i couldnt see myself touring europe in one and thats what me and the wife want to do, i could deffo see us doing it in a c63 though

Honestly mate, that's another reason I stuck with Subaru, better the devil you know.

I know for a fact that a set of coil packs for the C63 is £3.5k alone, major service can be in the same price region etc etc. The list and expenditure goes on and just gets worse.

Now that's just ****ing bonkers. I've been researching the BMW m5 alot and it is actually quite a reliable beast. Discs and pads are the most expensive service item around £1200 for fronts alone.

The only 4wd coupe that takes my fancy is the rs5 but it's quite down on torque so probably wouldn't be a great drivers car unless its having its neck rung.

Yeh I'm the same, I still really like the RS4 avant estate but it's got a reputation as a chav chariot these days so was looking at a 700bhp RS6 instead as well as mildly tunes 540bhp C63 touring models.

I've read a few horror stories on the rs6 aswell. Any car like that you gotta have the warranty on BUT that means you must keep it standard and standard is boring.

That's the trouble, I wasn't interested in a standard one.

I'm 6'2" shrek and also couldn't take the leg room in 05 wrx wagon.
part reason why I sold it.
at the moment I've got jdm legacy which I feel is slightly better.
Also got a mazda 6 scrapper and I can put the seat so far back I can't drive .
so I I don't know why but seems to be a Subaru thing.
