OK, stupid question time, I,ve bought a set of genuine WRX 15" aluminium alloys from a fellow scoobynetter and I'm very pleased with them, they really enhance the look of my 1.6GL, so I bought some chromed wheel nuts from Les Smith outlet in my home town anyway the length of thread on each stud doesn't stick out of the end new wheel nuts but only about half way down. Is this safe as my mate says the thread should protrude a few threads out of the wheel nut when fully tighted down. The old nuts are smaller with a few threads of the stud sticking out. The new 15" wheels are thicker at the "hub" ? causing this to happen.

Cheers Mac

As a rule of thumb you should have thread in connection with the nut at least equal to the stud diameter.

Check your hub, it may be possible to knock out the old studs and fit slightly longer ones without having to remove the hub.

Size of nut is M12 x 1.25 so there should be 12mm of stud length inside the wheel nut ?? maths wasn't a strong point of mine
