2ltr R sport and 2ltr R (hatch)
Anyone enlighten me on the difference between the two models, yes I no there non turbo but that's his choice..
I've found a 2ltr R hatch 58 plate with sub 60k on the clock on eBay which maybe interesting a friend, are there any things out of the norm that I should
Be looking for when going to view..

The 2.0R can be had in both Hawkeye and Hatch guise, the "Sport" is probably refering to the DOHC engined version.
MY06/07 DOHC 160Ps/137 ftlb
MY06/07 SOHC 125Ps/136 ftlb
MY08 DOHC 150Ps/137 ft lb
MY06/07 DOHC 160Ps/137 ftlb

MY08 DOHC 150Ps/137 ft lb

R does not mean a thing in itself in the Impreza range it is a trim level of non Turbo cars
R Sport refers to the Hawke Eye, 5 door sports wagon 2005 to about 2008
R refers to the 4 door saloon car HawkEye.
Engines are either 1.5 or 2 litres and the BHP of the 2 ltr car is around 150 not 160 bhp.
The new model 2007 to around 2011 had the same engines but only one body style a 5 door hatch again with the R designator. There was a similar car the RX with Sat Nav etc and some were diesels from 2007.
I had an R Sport Dec 2005 to June 2015 and did 84,000 miles.
New exhaust rear and mid section at 60k miles but still the original downpipe and cat at 85 k miles.
Rerubbered both front calipers and the rear offside caliper.
Pads at 30 k miles and discs at 40k and 80 k miles.
One rear nearside shockabsorber.
Rear diff getting just a touch noisy at 85k miles.
Both rear panels rusting at the junction with the plastic bumper but if stripped back at 50k miles and cleaned and touched up that would not have happened.
When cambelt changed at 50k mile services needed a new hydraulic tensioner.
Changed rear drop links at 60k miles but not an MOT failure just did it.
Tyres lasted 40,000 miles.
Traded in and replaced with a
2009 R 2 litre in June 2009 with 31,500 miles on it now with 45,000 miles on it.
Replaced both rear calipers as they were getting warm not seized and the fuel consumption mixed driving went from say 29 to 32 mpg.
37 MPG on long motorway run Aberdeen to Reading and back circa 1,000 miles.
Replaced rear oxy sensor.
Bodywork rust protection is better that the HawkEye.
Cigarette lighter socket not working.
Front Droplinks and antiroll bar bushes now need changed but we live up a rough forest track so no complaints on that score.
On both cars if you push the clutch whiles starting it tends to take a few turns just do not do that and they start first turn of the key.

thanks guys !!! I have a few more questions regarding visual mods
Obviously been a non turbo it don't have a turbo bonnet what would I need to change this just the bonnet or would I need the sti grill also and what sort of money should I be paying for a turbo bonnet and grill ?? Are all hatch sti bonnets the same ?
Lastly the interior looks gash ideally he is wanting to put some sti front and rear seats what is the price range for a set of sti front and rear seat as I think they should make a massive differece

The 2.0R hatch is the same as the WRX Hatch in that it is a narrow bodied model.
Bonnet is the same for WRX, WRXs and STi although the internal fittings re:duct to intercooler are different.
Front grill is the same for 2.0R, 2.0RS and WRX but different for STi (not just the badging)
Grill and front bumper changed with MY11

This is the car we we are hopefully going to view at the weekend as u can see it's a standard 2.0R yes and is the narrow body as you said Don
Obviously there is no intercooler there but will ascetically make it look bettter with a sti or wrx bonnet so I guess if there all the Same it won't make any difference as there is no intercooler there with regards to the duct fitting.
Ok so u can see the grill that it comes with, he like the look of the sti grill but I'm guess u saying it won't fit ? I I also believe you saying that the grill is the same on the wrx and 2.0R so no point changing it for that hmmmm
Any ideas on what a used sti bonnet should go for I've found one and he wants £150

A pre MY11 Sti grill should fit. All I'm saying is it's different
Comparison (note no STi badge)
UK cars have destination code EK

Thanks Don so a pre MY11 sti grill should fit that's great news I'm not to keen on the standard one :/ and just to confirm that the wheels 5 x100 according to the diagram u have put up
I've hopefully already sourced a sti interior and a sti bonnet and he hasn't even bought the car yet lol

After looking into this for another day and as he is gonna be modding it the 2ltr rx is gonna be a better choice I mean u get the diffuser style on he rear body coloured trims bucket seats and a whole host of other upgrades over the standard 2ltr R which just seems to basic....
Now just to find one with reasonable mileage and at a good price
