Default Engine Rebuild or Reconditioned engine 2003 WRX STI

I live in south wales, Can anyone recommend a good garage to go to?

Would you suggest a engine rebuild or a reconditioned engine, My turbo collapsed and has damaged the engine.

What would you suggest?

Cheers guys

IMO reconditioned engines is a bit of a misnomer. Either it's been rebuilt, or it's a used engine (that might have been 'reconditioned' by spraying silver paint on it).

Having said that, how deep are your pockets? A rebuild will not leave much change from 3000 (using standard components, assuming your block doesn't need boring etc etc), I'd have thought, where-as a used engine (albeit of unknown quality) will be far cheaper, and may work just fine.

Lots of people here have gone for 2.1 litre engines when doing a rebuild, or alternatively Paul Finch ('motorsgt') has a 2.5 long engine for sale in the for sale section. He's a very well respected engine builder.

Dean, Dan and Liam are top blokes and all worked for CVC previously. I would not go anywhere else.

"blockhead" (Dan) posts on here every now and then.
