Default weird boost issue

Strange boost issue today , it went into limp mode , no cels no stored codes old or new , i checked all the piping including taking the interwarmer off but no sign of any leaks , car drove fine but max boost was .5 , i cleaned the boost solenoid and it went back to normal it actually seemed to boost better , very strange , fingers crossed it appears to be solved

i had to buy a second hand boost solenoid , not too bad at 20£ so issue solved now , yes sometimes they can be cleaned but not this time , boost is much better on the car now so must have been getting slightly worse over time

Happy days man!

It's great when problems are solved as simply as that.

out of curiosity did you hard wire the boost solenoid to the battery when initially cleaning it out?

hi no i just sprayed it i could hear it moving inside as i did i just gave each pipe a blast of carb cleaner as it worked last time on my foz , it's surprising how much things improved with a working part , i had same issue on my fsti prob 5 or 6 years ago and a clean sorted it , so when it lacked boost i had an idea of the possible problem , at the same time i also had coolant getting high on the expansion tank , i heard the rad cap making noise so swapped that out i was thinking hg issue but all appears ok now , caps seem to fail with age and mileage
