surefire newage coilpacks
I'm doing a newage coilpack conversion on my Subaru classic and I'm looking at buying some surefire performance coilpacks but when I go onto there website there are 3 different types all at the same price.
can someone please guide me onto the correct set please.

Not saying there's anything wrong with them, far from it. Just curios as to why the majority of the big hitters don't run them

Maybe because they never generally go wrong type of attitude. Let's face it, they are not made like normal coils so less likely to fail, but for the cost of buying vs price of new they work the same, or maybe the red ones better, who knows as never been tested back to back I don't think.
Martyn recommended them and has used them lots on high power builds
A little bit off topic, but I am currently converting my V5 with the surefire's and Jt loom, (which I have already bought) but my mapper is advising against it as the looms have been giving interference during mapping.
Has anybody else had this problem, I ask because I know there is a difference in the looms between versions and am hoping its confined to one not both hopefully not the V5.
(please don't ask the mappers name as I don't want to start anything, but he is well regarded in the scene)

With that advice it deserves the mappers name for others to avoid.
They are all 'apparently ' regarded on the scene
Maybe he don't like jti for some reason

Well the mapper is crap then, as the v5 loom is literally pnp and no wiring up like pre V4 etc. So I find it astronomically hard he/she would say that, it's just a straight current.

I didn't ask what versions he had the problems with.
They should all be shielded and earthed on the shielding anyway, so I can't see how he can be getting interference.
I have fitted jti looms and they are very good quality and seemed appropriately shielded etc.
Like I said in my original post I am not naming and starting the big ScoobyNet bitching match which usually happens on here.
I was just trying to gather if it had happened to anybody on here and what version they have.
Just trust me in saying he is one of the best we have in the UK and not some guy who has just popped up overnight.

The looms don't give interference. The only instances of this are on AlcaTek ECUs due to a suspected design flaw withe that ECU...and we supply information on how to work around this issue by adding a new earth wire (on 1999-2000, V5/V6 as the others don't suffer this).

[QUOTE=ossett2k2;11916170]FK0140 for 2.0ltr
Either red or black, most go for the red.
ordered some fk0140 red coils as that is listed for a 53 plate sti but just pulled the old ones and there fk0186. Boots are slightly longer on the old fk0186. Is there much difference between them? Not sure if the old fk0186 coils are the standard ones or have been swapped at some point

There seems to be a bit of conflicting info on this tbh.
This thread post#10 would suggest Fk0186 are for the 2.5ltr

I have read that they are for 2.0ltr STI.
The ones which are in your car would suggest fk0186 are indeed for 2.0ltr cars lol
I think there is something like a 2ms dwell time difference between the WRX & STI.
Again,I don't speak from experience in using the different types but from the info I've read when looking to upgrade my v3 Classic to single coils.
