Default Later newage centre console

Are there different versions of the later centre console or just the one type so are the later blobs and hawks have the same ?

I have a earlier set up in my 03 and was hopping to freshen things up by using a newer centre console the one with the 3 big buttons apose to the 3 large twist dials I currently have..

I was then looking into changing the bulbs to red to keep everything matching as well. but I'm a little unsure what will need to be changed now, I thought all I would need is the stereo / heater surround and controls the top heater vents and the lower section that would go round the gear stick

If any one has any decent pics they can put up of there later centre console so I can see or if you no what's required could u let me no

I will pop up a pic of my current set up below..

Thanks

I converted my early newage Spec C to the later type of centre console, it's not as easy as you'd hope because of the different type of AC / heater controls, search under my threads started to find the thread.

I'd do it myself but using a mobile to do it isn't very easy.

Hi mate.

The later blobs and Hawks were all the same style as you suggest. The later bits will fit into your earlier car too as I've also seen this done various times as an upgrade/refresh.

I forgot to mention that my gear surround I have that matches the centre console Markis84 has is for a widetrack model. Which will fit your car just fine, but the only reason I purchased it from him was for the aluminium gear surround trim piece (which is now fitted to my car). So it is without that section now and without the leather gear gaitor too.

Above is the link required, you will require a different type of heater control panel fascia as it is not the same as the standard WRX or STi, I think I may have listed the part number for it in the link above.

I may be able to offer further help if you need it.

Markis84 currently has that heater control panel for sale and the OP is already talking to him.

You will also need the side trim pieces and the black piece that mounts up to the handbrake section.

I'm not sure how much hassle it will be but the newer centre console is much better.

Hi Zany... that is the set up I would like looks much smoother than the earlier version.. but ... the issue been the bottom reciculation slider on my I don't think it's viable to make it work with a later centre console I would have to do something like cannon fodder has done

I was sort of hoping to go with a complete upgrade, I see yours still incorporates the original dials which I was sort of hopeing to use the new set up such as zany has above but as been stated I think the recirculate slider is the main issue in not been able to do it

You definitely won't be able to do what you're planning, unfortunately the different AC controls aren't compatible and will not work without a LOT of wholesale modifications to the wiring and HVAC systems.

I know as I tried myself and couldn't make it work due to the HVAC system being totally different.

I put a complete Hawkeye interior in my early Blob JDM. The only modding was to the centre console to accomdate the folding/adjust mirror switches.

Page 3 post 70 and page 5 post 133.
