Default Spec c ra hawk daily ?

Hi all

I'm not too clued up on the spec c cars much, what's the difference in a spec c ra hawk compared to standard JDM hawk and can they be a daily driver.

whats the reasonable price to pay for one.

Standard JDM, Standard UK? Try the search, the answers are out there.

Price, what you're willing to pay. Look at Hurst they have some stock.

Daily not a problem.

I do mainly town driving, would it not be suitable for that.

Also what's the difference compared to standard JDM hawk. I'm guessing ligher, roof vent/scoop, alloys.

I have a Spec C and it's fine for a daily drive, no problem whatsoever.

Check mine out:

https://www.scoobynet.com/members-ga...c-type-ra.html

great cars, far superior to a regular jdm. i keep mine as a summer car by choice. as i have a main car already and for future value purposes. keep it clean and it will make a good investment.

they are fine to drive. each to there own. but i think the ra is little more rough and raw.

but i recommend test driving. best way to find out for sure. if you want to go up a notch, try the ra-r.

I think you will be fine for town driving.

There not that raw,

Really don't get where people come up with that,

It drives 90% like a normal Impreza, you'll notice the other 10% when your on the limit.

Test drive one, test drive a uk car, then a jdm

IMO having owned a spec c. It wasn't all that, certainly wasn't the **** fest everyone on here makes out, who tend to just be regurgitating what they have read,

IMO the price difference isn't worth it,

As you can tell I was throughly underwhelmed by my spec c blob. It was compounded when I went in my mate fq400 mr which made the spec c seem like a micra,

Spec c more special than they actually are, never meet(drive) your heroes

The thing about Spec C's is the track focused goodies, Engine and gearbox oil coolers anti-serge fuel pump, 12l water spray bottle, stripped and lighter parts, pink trailing arms etc, this is all done so they can take a sustained battering on track.

So if you're not going to take advantage of that then there's not much point in paying the extra, beyond being able to tell your mates about it, you may as well buy a JDM and have the creature comforts like sound deadening for one as they ain't the quietest of cars with it, nevermind without.

And at the end of the day most people can't drive well enough to get to the point where all that makes a difference, but we all like to think we're Petter Solberg, Richard Burns etc, brum brum, beeeeeeeeerrrrrrum.

Good or bad. Try it yourself fella. Everyone has different preferences. What one might think is raw, may actually be comfortable to another. Happy days.

I have not got the ra version, but my spec c is a joy to drive on smooth roads and a bit of a nightmare on very bumpy pot- holed roads(car has coilovers) as already said above you need to drive one and then decide.

You are wrong, I do a couple of sprints a year not many and the last time I was at the ring was 2014 in my blob, yes it doesn't do many miles as I use a van for work/tools etc...but doesn't stop me getting in it at any available opportunity to go to the shops, still more refined as a daily than a classic in my opinion

Not that wrong, I got the bit about the van and track work right, so only wrong about the ring.

And if I remember rightly you did used to go to the ring a fair bit in a Spec C.

Surely if you want a rare edition of the Impreza for a daily driver the S203/S204 are the ones to have.

Having had a Blobeye Spec C with keep fit windows as well as my S204 (which is for sale BTW ) The Spec C road noise was quite bad due to the lack of sound deadening etc etc.

The S204 is actually pretty refined for a japbox I thought. Nice and quiet whilst cruising but has a lovely bark through the titanium exhaust when on boost.

Both cars are very capable, as said above it really depends on what you are after, the Spec C I had the gearing was too short and for me would of become annoying everyday.

Even the S204 isn't what you'd call refined in todays market, but for a Subaru that's 10 years old its pretty decent.

I'm looking to buy an Impreza as something fun to use when I can and as a bit of an investment.

I'm pretty sure my heart is set on a classic Type R but a Hawk Spec C RA is tempting me away.

Off the top of my head, the differences are as follows:

Thinner windows,
Thinner roof panel
No underseal
Anti surge fuel pump
Reinforced front suspension turrets
No grab handles, passenger visor
Black interior
Ball bearing turbo
No HID
No rear wiper
No trunk mat
No leather wrapped handbrake lever
No chrome door levers
Smaller fuel tank
Strut brace in the rear
70kg lighter than a regular JDM STI

They both have the JDM 2.0L EJ207 and have identical gear ratios which means they are both equally peaky and require the same level of commitment from the driver as compared to a UK 2.5 STI for example IMO.

Whether or not, it's suitable for daily use, I guess it all comes down to whether you can deal with the stuff listed above or the lack of as a daily driver.

HTH

Banny - are you comparing the spec c to a modded or standard R?

Only ask because I want to import a really nice type r but watching auctions for last few weeks there is mostly dogs going through. Could be waiting months. Not a big issue but not sure how long I can wait it out! Can't decide whether to wait or buy a spec c type ra.

Anyone help with differences between spec C and Spec C type ra please?

To both and extremely modded type r and a standardish one that had stiffened bushes and mounts all round. The Newage cars are more refined full stop and much easier to live with on a daily basis, I cant see the spec c being much different drive wise to my bros 04 JDM so thats my comparison

How much would a Jdm sti hawkeye set you back?

and where's the best place people would recommend sourcing one from or is it far easier to just import one?

Have a look at M2RTX's it's on for sale on here,
his is the perfect example and you'd be hard pushed to find such an example allready modified with all the bits you'll ever want so no extra spends, if I didn't have mine I would have snapped it up in a breath he's got it advertised very realistically IMO

https://www.scoobynet.com/subaru-444...51e-white.html

2005, 77k miles, some tasteful mods, £13500.

Torque GT is a reputable importer.
