Just look behind one of the rear lights, one that has a reversing light in it. If you take the bulbholder out, you'll be able to follow the metal tracks to see which wire feeds that bulb. Then tap into that one. Each bulb will have at least two metal tracks leading to it, the ones that are all connected together are the return, so not that one. You want the feed to the bulbs.

I used to use Scotchloks, but with the advent of the very thin wiring on modern cars, they aren't as reliable. You CAN get them for thin wiring, but they are dear. Now I strip back a section, wrap the new wire round, solder it and tape it up. Or if there's enough slack, cut the wire, slide on some heat-shrink well out of the way, solder, slide heat shrink in and shrink it.
