Would you go jdm or uk sti?
Im in a position to buy another impreza and pretty sure itll be a blob and yes I've googled the differences etc of the jdm and uk cars but in real owners experience what is the one to go for? Also what's pros and cons each please
Owned many uk sti's and now a jdm widetrack and can honestly say I don't miss the uk sti anymore infact the jdm is better in everyway although I missed the distinctive unequal length burble but that was soon taken care of by the blitz nur spec totally in love with the jdm now
There's some real good white examples knocking about at the moment on here owned by fellow enthusiasts which I would have snatched last year when I was looking for one

Had a jdm classic and a uk. Jdm every time, handled better, whole car felt tighter, loved it to bits, swapped to uk thinking be similar, but wasn't as nice car to drive. But both had burble.

I am now in my 8th Subaru.
Only the first three were UK models the remainder JDM.
Pro's.
Spec and everything else.
Con's.
People who have not owned a JDM car think they know better.

I am on my 6th Impreza now. My current is a blob Spec C type RA. Both have their pros and cons, and although I'm a big big fan of UK models, you can't steer away from the fact that the JDM's are technically superior. Some folk see certain aspects of cars as being better because it's suited to their needs, whereas others will argue the opposite.
I will always argue that the UK 2.5 lumps are brilliant though. At 70mph, my JDM blob sits at just over 3k.....my previous hawk STi sat at 2.5k and would cruise along With such brilliant ease. My JDM, although fantastic to drive, gets a bit tiresome on a long journey because it's not suited to UK roads. Equally, when I'm cutting around town, it swings the other way. The twin scroll roller bearing VF36 setup spools up much quicker that my hawk did, and although you have more low-down torque from the 2.5, the advantage of spooling up lower down the Rev range trumps this. However, if we start talking about driving characteristics, handling, turn-in etc, there is literally no comparison. JDM every time.
Oh, and I love my roof flap

For the record I would personally go for JDM 10 times out of 10, but to offer some balance it's worth bearing in mind that if this car is a daily driver:
-5th and 6th gears are lower so (even) less relaxing on long motorway stints
-Twin-scroll turbo means you are always using the turbo (no pootling around below turbo range for economy) so MPG is even more catastrophic than a UK car - you'll struggle to break 20 MPG even when pootling
Other than that, its has to be JDM all the way

20mpg. Thank god rs-matt is currently banned. He'd be all over this otherwise!
I've owned UK and JDM and love them both. If I had to buy again it would probably be JDM again as they hold their value better and have more of the toys I like.

Torque GT and Prodrift UK have some for sale
You've seen mine but it is off for remap loveliness on the 23rd. But in ECO 360 mile on a tank is easily done.

hi all...any info would be appreciated here...i have a 04 sti NON widetrack running 480bhp..its ran 450bhp plus since 2010 with no issues with last couple of owners...ive never driven a jdm blobeye and when i got this i was non the wiser if im being honest regarding the differences as i was new to blobeyes...at that power whats the differences?? i understand the folding mirrors wont make a difference and i believe the uk sti has forged pistons where as the jdms have cast pistons...im not doubting the jdm is better and the next car i get will be a jdm but are the differences that significant?
