Default Issues fitting a Genuine HKS SSQV

Hi,

Ill start by saying I know there is already threads on this issue though there hasn't been any solutions.

I purchased this SSQV from a fellow scoobynet member though he didn't have the TMIC adapter, so I went ahead and purchased one off ebay.

Now my issue is, with this adapter it either hits off the black rails that run along the top of the TMIC or else it hits off the manifold.

Now I have found that the genuine HKS SSQV's actually come with an angled adapter as standard to stop this happening. Though for the life of me I cannot find one of these adapters anywhere!

Hopefully someone can help.

Matt.

Rang HKS to see if they could help. The guy on the phone suggest that I buy another SSQV from him... (Very helpful). And basically that he wouldn't be selling me an adapter.

Ok, I got in touch with Demon Motorsport and they advised me that they were aware of certain adapters for sale on the market that cause this issue.

They also advised me that their adapter would 100% work and fix the issue I am having. So I have went ahead and purchased it.

Just incase anyone else is looking for an adapter, DO NOT PURCHSE THIS ONE AS IT WONT WORK: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-Imp...kAAOSwoydWrUzx

Sounds like you have an adapter for a classic. Newage adapters are indeed angled so the ssqv clears the inlet manifold.

Well I agree it is certainty not for a newage anyway! Though a little peeved as the description said "An aluminium adapter for fitting a HKS BOV to the Subaru Impreza 01-06."

Clearly lies!

Which version do you have? I have just bought a hks bov version 4 and I'm about to fit to my newage. I better check I have the associated bracket.

Yeah I just looked at that ad. It's wrong. Might be worth messaging that company and telling them that they're wrong

Hi Jonny,

It is also an HKS SSQV V4.

My new adapter should be here in the next few days, if it works I'll post a link on which one to purchase. (Want to make sure it fits before posting a link).

Cheers,
Matt.

I attempted mine too and had the same problems. Is this the bracket you have?

Jonny,

This is the one I ended up ordering yesterday from demon motorsport as they assured me it'll 100% fit.

So does this enable you to fit the bov directly in front of the tmic as opposed to the side?

After a bit of investigation seems I have a classic fitment adapter. So I have gone ahead and ordered the same as you so hopefully it's all good!

I can confirm Demon motorsport's adapter allows you to fit to your TMIC! Highly enjoying the noise of my SSQV

Cool. Might need to ask you how exactly it fits as I got no instructions.

Mines touches the manifold...didn't see it being a issue? Did take a bit of persuasion to get it on mind you.

I'll upload a few photos at some stage, don't forget you need a bung too for the other pipe - just incase you don't already have one.

I used Circlip pliers, you can get them from halfrauds for about £10.

Something like these: http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/produc...Fegp0wodiMcF1A

I can't believe nobody has been on here yet raving about VTA dump valves and how much better the standard recirculating valve is! This site has gone to the dumps. The trolls these days are nowhere near as good as they used to be!!!

Funnily enough I have only recently taken my HKS SSQV off the car. Love them too.

I knew this and have read numerous threads about it but I guess it's a case of like or don't like. Let alone it's a scratch that needs itching then we can decide for ourself. And has there actually been any proof they are bad for the engine as if so I haven't seen any!

Got it fitted tonight and yes it sounds good. Not quite as loud as I was expecting but tbh I think it's better that way.
