Advice on price - Hawk STI
Hi Guys.
Looking to get back into an STI and fancy giving the 2.5 a go this time.
I've seen a car close to me with 14k on the clock. 2006 56. One owner. Blue.
Only got 5 stamps in the book. Was off the road for a while due to lack of use.
Cambelt has been changed on time however and the guy has just put 4 new potenza OEM tyres on it.
It looks like new but has done very little mileage and is a due a service.
Up for £14k.
I personally don't think it's worth that and am quite confident I can get the price down.
Just wondered what you guys thought a good price was?

personally think it's priced bang on, got to think at that miles it's rare and only getting rarer. If you can get it nearer 12k it's a steal. Don't be buying it to put 15k a year on it though 😩

I've been out of the Impreza world for a while so not so clued up on current market.
Given it needs a service I hope I can get it for 13.5k.
Just concerned about that lack of stamps in the book. All MOTs back the mileage up and the original bill of sale is present.

Servicing on milage alone it would only have 2 stamps
1 at 1000 miles and 1 at 10k. The owner has had 3 services done based on age with a cam belt replacement to boot. Sounds like a well looked after car to me.
If you can get it for £13 - 13.5k happy days

Seems like a good car then.
I have seen similar mileage cars on piston heads that are fully forged for a few £k more from Clive's Prestige Cars Lancashire but not sure about those cars.
Not looking for big power and would be nice to have a clean slate to do what I want.
Viewing tonight hopefully.

Keep in mind that forging may be required in the future.
Avoid Cheshire Performance etc, search Clives/Cheshire Performance and you'll understand
Although the car sounds great see if one of the specialists on here can go with you (for a small fee) to give it the once over

That car should have 10 stamps in the service book at least, regardless of mileage. It should be serviced yearly or every 10k miles, whichever is sooner. If not, it doesn't have full service history. In fact it should have a cambelt every 50k miles or 5 years in general, so should be due a new cambelt now. My hawk had a new cambelt last month.
Having a car sat unused for years does it no good at all. Sometimes this can do more damage than using a car and warming it up.

Change my oil every 5k/6months.

Cam belt is inspection every 30 months and replace at 105 as with most of the other stuff
Oil changes are the one that needs doing regularly, if the documentation has numerous receipts for oil and filter then that's good surely?
As I said before, take a specialist with you and have a full cam belt and all fluids service done straight away if you go with it
£14k JDM does make a lot of sense

£14k for a clean jdm widetrack hawk that would be a steal!! I wouldn't take a penny less than 14k for mine and that's a widetrack blob but you get what you pay for these days estate turbo 2000's are being advertised at 4K !!!!!

i wouldn't pay anywhere near that for a 2.5 hawk unless its been rebuilt. your not far off hawk spec c money at that anyway. you can get them for under 10k now with less than 100k miles

I'm looking for a nice low mileage car hence why this one drew my attention.
I suppose ultimately it's me who has to live with it so need to make a decision.
The service aspect doesn't bother me as it hasn't done the mileage and if I did buy it is take it straight to a specialist and have everything done.
Maybe I should look for a higher mileage example but with full history.
I will say though, even that doesn't guarantee you a good one.

I have been keeping an eye on this one too. Its a little early for me as I'm not really looking to buy one until the end of the year but if this was available then, I would be tempted. If you are looking for as near to new hawk then that's the one. Very rare with that mileage though as pointed out, not necessarily a good thing if its sat about) but it is definitely a 'clean slate'.

Guy had been listening to higher offers and arranging viewings for this weekend.
Found this out after not getting any response then he came clean.
Not upping my offer and wouldn't buy it now out of principle.

hi there shame about that but I would defiantly look more towards a jdm model or the spec models. The first scooby ive ever bought is my current 07 hawk sti. I love it but should of researched more before as its the 500 quid a year road tax where as the earlier hawks are the cheaper bracket, bit annoying paying more a month for tax than I am insurance lol.
The other problem is within no time the ringlands went on the pistons so engine out for a rebuild, was on 50k miles. The jdm models are so much more tunable without doing engine mods as a thread on here by shaun showed taking a standard engine to 400 and something (i forget exactly) bhp. And they seem to hold money better also.
Just a thought and im sure plenty of people have had good experiences, but is i was going for it again would be going jdm

Only thing is it's only done 14k miles and up for £18k.
Does have some good mods and a full service history with Cambelt done.
Is 18k a bit much?

That's a shame mate as that hawk looked good. It's a shame when someone agrees a deal then they go back on it but guess it just wasn't meant to be. I noticed it had disappeared from PH. the JDM hawk looks nice too. Although 18k is steep, ultimately if it's the right car and mileage and you are keeping it a few years, it wouldn't bother me paying a little extra. I think people sometimes get more hung up on the price.

There is a Blob STI going to with nice low miles but it's in Clive's Prestige Cars. Been reading some bad stuff about that place.
I'll keep looking and see what comes up.

A service is every 12 months or 10k miles.
The car has been neglected/parked up/left standing, and now the owner wants top dollar for it
Cambelt is 5 years or 50k miles. It's due for it's next belt now
I have seen cars with 500 miles between annual service and MOT, just because it isn't used daily doesn't stop the oil degrading with age, or other parts seizing up, belts not turning
A 50k car will have been used weekly and serviced yearly
