Default Unmapped sports cat

Quick question. I'm getting my downpipe sports cat section fitted and then need to drive it 40 miles to my mapper. Assuming it will just run badly and not damage anything if I do this?

Drive off boost and it'll be fine. 👍

Lol I've had my sports cat on for 10,000 miles makes no difference to running at all. Just improves performance.

in a classic yes you can just fit & forget.

but if he has a hawk, going by his avatar, then its not as simple as that.

Same here fitted a prodrive sports cat on my previous uk300. Ran fine without mapping in for 12months. Had eml light every now and then. It went on rollers and there was no issues.

Mine was fitted to my blobeye (prodrive sports cat) and my car was over boosting after fitting it, JGM came out and tweaked the map to suit didn't get much more bhp but loads more torque.

yeh on a 2.0 i wouldn't be too stressed but a 2.5 will most certainly need the map tweaked to get it running right. wouldn't worry about driving it to your mapper so long as your not taking it like a rally stage just keep it off boost.

I wouldn't map for a decat up-pipe but when I had a sportscat downpipe fitted the engine light came on pretty quickly.

The tuning specialist who fitted it and charged over £500 for the labour forgot to connect the actuator hose back and I thought the downpipe was the greatest mod of all time until I got fuel cut. 1bar for 6 years then suddenly to feel over 1.5bar is a strange sensation.

Car was mapped a week after.
