No matter which way you approach it the news isn't good. The box will have to come out and be stripped down. When API rebuilt mine I came away with a £1200 bill.

Not sure if it will help you - I have a spare 754 box here already stripped to be rebuilt - I'm after £80 for it?
(I could easily get it to Cambridge for you to collect from there)

Cheers,
Paul

Pointless exercise, fit another box for a couple of hundred quid and learn to be more mechanically sympathetic (depending on how much torque you're running).

If you're running over 350lbft spend the figure mentioned above on a 6 speed rather than a 5 speed that'll crap it's pants again

Find a box of the same code / ratios and fit .

No point spending thousands rebuilding a box as even then with an updated gear they still go pop

As said , 3rd is the weak gear as its shares 4th as well

This is so weird......recently blew the 3rd gear on my P1 TY54 box....did last a few years though......put my old standard my98 ty52 box bang 3rd gear gone again yesterday! just tossing up whether to go 6 speed or dog box route they are roughly the same price.........If you are putting another box in just go easy on it, I didn't I never do if I get the chance! so I will put something stronger in. Running a td05 18g by the way at about 20psi.......
