Default Does my car have launch controll im confused ?

So i was out yesterday and found my self in a tunnel ,
I obviously got far to excited and revved my car up to pleasure my self !
I got abit carried away and found that the car doesnt rev past 5k in netural / with the clutch in ??
Is this launch control or just a standard rev limiter ?
Is a 2002 prodrive sti
Thanks

Sounds like LC mine is set at 4k and always on,some are put on a switch.
If you rev and hold at 5k do you get full boost on the gauge(if you have one?)
If rev limited then I would have thought you wouldn't be able to rev over the limit in gear either.
Car must have been mapped.

Yes you should get positive boost, usually full boost(mine does)
You should here it pop and bang too, with flames out of the exhaust,if you have any cats(not the furry type) then this is not a good idea, although if you do have pets make sure they are well clear from the back of your car

Isn't the LC only active when the car is static?

Just looking at my map and the LC vehicle speed arm threshold is set to 2mph
So looks like you wouldn't be able to activate that while on the move(over 2mph)

My car is a classic tho so may well be different on certain ECU's?

Thought you had to have it in gear for LC to be active?

I'm pretty sure mine still works in neutral.
To be honest I've not used it much and never done a launch(yet). Got a few things to sort out first.

I'm fairly sure that it shouldn't? Mine won't work with the neutral position switch disconnected....

Your probably right then,I know you've done a few launches in your time, don't fancy testing it out on mine just yet.
Was sure I did give it a quick try a few month back when it was in neutral?
Would a classic with 6 speed still have nps connected?

I think I did over 200 on the last engine lol!

Yep, got a 3 pin plug behind the clutch, I was having no launch control and having to manually do it, found out later nps was disconnected. Plug it in and my launch was back....

200+ lol
I'm itching to try mine out!
Out of interest, what setting would you recommend for a prefect/near perfect launch? RPM and Boost level

It all depends on many factors, peak boost, grip levels, etc....

On mine in dry conditions 6.5kish, with a smaller turbo my friend uses 4.2k on his sc42.

Best bet is go out and try it and see what works, too high you will light the wheels up, too low you'll bog down after you sidestep the clutch

You should feel the car shake slightly and the revs will fluctuate a few hundred rpm
