Turbo 2000 engine upgrade advice
I did decat, exhaust and remap and ended up with around 280. The best thing I did was find a cheap vf 28. Went to 325 with no other changes apart from tweet to map. I would get yourself a vf 28 or 35 , decat the up pipe and remap.
IIRC the P1 has an STI v5/6 map and in order to fit in a MY99/00 requires rewiring some pins. However, the car you've posted up info about appears to be a MY98 and you can't just swap the ECU with one from a MY99/00.
PS, to the OP. Classics dont have a cat in the up pipe so only a decat downpipe is needed. Most common mods path is decat exhaust, decent panel filter, uprated fuel pump and map. MY98 models require ESL or other standalone ecu, budget around £550-600 for ESL supplied and mapped by one of the recommended mappers.
If its the 1st time the car has seen mods its worth considering if the car can handle a 40-50% increase in power. Clutch, gearbox, brakes, engine will all be doing a lot more work so make sure its up to the job 1st, after all it is 18 years old.

haha, I did that too, E42 in Belgium near Newport WITH a front mount. Its the oil temps that killed mine, while chasing a merc sls at naughty speed thinking a uk2000 was indestructible lol
