Pride and Joy destroyed on a roadtest following a MAF sensor fit
today I met a man with an interesting tale to tell. Having asked his permission to share it, what you are about to read is really rather shocking. What may be less shocking is the garage involved. Yes, another Rotherham Scoobies victim. So as not to cause any comebacks on the customer, we shall refer to him as, "Sally".
Sally had a classic. It was a nice classic but more importantly, it was his classic. He worked hard for it and he loved it. As with all things it may not have been everybody's cup o' Rosie Lee, but Sally didn't care. One day his beloved automobile required a new maf sensor. With it being a fairly simple job Sally decided to take his car to a local garage. He drove onto the business park and pulled up outside, where he was met by a man of little hair who took charge of the work.
The specialist then felt that he ought to roadtest the car to ensure the work was carried out in an efficient and effective manner and thus departed the premises, driving first through the business park and out onto the open road. It's at this point that I feel I ought to add that from the garage to the open road was ample distance to ensure the car wasn't going to spontaneously combust due to a maf sensor issue. But our specialist wanted to be very thorough.
After what must have felt like an eternity sat waiting for his pride and joy, Sally was eventually to see the sight any car owner would dread. His pride and joy at a right angle across the road where it had come to rest following a minor disagreement with a lorry. I say minor, but that isn't exactly true as the pictures you'll see will show. Sally stood there taking in the sight before him and it was at this point, he knew he'd f%#^+d up.
But the tale of destruction doesn't stop there. The car was recovered back to the mechanics garage (there is no disputing the fact the pictures were taken inside his premises). Obviously distraught, Sally explained that he was going away and needed his car as he was departing for the land of Leeks and nervous woolly things. So our specialist found a car and set about transferring the engine. It was however pointed out that the car he was transplanting Sally's own heart too was full of rust and the arches had holes in them. So another body was found and everything was done and Sally was on his way. However a few days later he was back. Pipes weren't tightened properly, bits were hanging off and Sally wasnt a happy bunny. The expert then began stripping bits off a customers car to put it right stating he knew the customer and they were mates. Sally was dubious. But drove away in a car that wasn't as likely to dally apart. Not happy with it Sally eventually broke it and bought a new car.
What Sally didn't know at the time was that Rotherham SCOOBIES didn't have insurance to be driving his car. He simply thoughts Tonys efforts to make amends were nothing more than him trying to help, not him trying to keep the authorities out of it....

OMG just who can you trust these days?
On a far lesser scale I took my Scooby into Robert Bowetts Leeds for a service some years ago. Ended up with chips in the paint on one wing, didn't see it until I got home

I had an awful dealing with them when I had my Evo. I'm usually very passive and don't complain about poor workmanship to garage owners/managers (I do the forum wine thing) but that day I had a meltdown in the showroom.
Don't get me started on Motorcity in Wakefield!!!!!

I find it best to complain with your feet .......just go somewhere else with your custom
the funniest thing about this is that someone else told me Sally's story a bit back. But as it wasn't from the source I didn't know whether it was true or not. Then today, totally by chance I have a guy stood in front of me telling me a story I recognised. Both from being told it previously and because that sounds just like Rotherham Scoobies. This guy really is going to kill someone one day if he isn't stopped.

I had a very similar thing happen to me back in the day, I took my pride and joy a 1992 rs turbo into a well known Ford RS tuner for a general health check and few minor jobs and after they'd completed the work they went out for a road test to check all was well..... This resulted in my car been written off in a high speed crash!!! Best of all is that they tried to blame the car and mechanical failure for the crash!! I had to hire a private crash investigator to prove that this wasn't the case and that excess speed was in fact the cause of the crash!!! Basically they were trying to avoid a insurance payout!! It took me over 12months before I got payed out by their insurance company in which time I was without a car!!!!
It all worked out in the end and I replaced the car with another Rs turbo but my lesson was firmly learnt!!!!
Maybe some of these "specialists" should spend more time trying to fix them rather than abusing folks hard earned property with driving them with no care for what they are doing, im glad i do 99% of my work myself or id be locked up for murder by now if it was handed into some of these bellends!
It's interesting(to say the least) to hear Tony's account of things over on fb,he's telling his story on Subaru cars and parts group! He was only going 20mph dont you know
