I'm after a 02-09 WRX / STi owner in or around Worthing, West Sussex (UK) to visit me to make a template for a gear gaiter, the owner will then be given a free gear gaiter for volunteering their time. The gear gaiter is made from Bride material.
It would be possible to just buy an OEM gaiter and make a template based on that but I'd really like to make sure it fits the car properly.
Also, I'd like a bit of advice if possible:
Am I right in thinking that the 02-09 WRX / STi share the same gear gaiter? I've tried researching a bit and although they have varying gearboxes, I can't find whether or not the gaiters are the same.
An image below of the ones made for 350z to give the volunteer an idea of what they'd be looking at:
For the mods: I'm not selling anything, I'm asking for someone to volunteer their time in exchange for a copy of the item I'm making. I'm hoping that's okay? This seems like the best place to find someone.

Reason: Spelling.
I am located in Chichester, so just down the road. I don't think mine is a standard gator for a type ra though.. I get the car on the 19th. If someone can confirm either way. If it's not and you get nothing better then maybe it's better than nothing.

Thanks for the offer and you are really close, so it could work well. I don't think the gaiter that you have on matters, it's more of a case of ensuring it fits correctly and that you can shift through the gears without the material resisting.
What year is your hatch? Because I've been reliably informed that the 02-09 gaiters are the same (WRX/STI 'could' be different). So it might be the case that this will fit without needing a new template.
As said, once I have the template I'll definitely be considering the option to join the forum to offer these to you guys.

It could be very interesting as Chigreen is offering his time, we could see if your 09 gaiter fits. Would you mind posting it to me? I will of course cover postage!

drop me your details in a PM and I will fire it over in the post for you
Could you make a gator for classics with 6 speed fitted?
It depends on general interest on whether or not it's worth making, am I right in thinking the classic has the rubber gaiter? Not sure how difficult that is to change, do you know how it's held in place?
It's definitely something to think about and I'll do some research, if it seems a popular idea I'll ask about on here for a test fitter as you guys are very helpful.

I haven't tried fitting the old 5 speed gator yet but from what i've read it's an issue. I think it's due to having the "lifter" bit below the gear **** for reverse?(Not 100% sure) I'm sure you would sell a good few on here.
Maybe set up a group buy to make sure you get the numbers before committing?

Forgive my Subaru noobness but what do you currently use for a gaiter? Is the 6 speed from a newer model?

That looks tidy as the genuine handbrake gator is saggy as fooook I would defo be up for one of these in the bride material for the ultimate jdm look

Nothing lol
Yes the 6 speed is from a newage impreza
The car is away at the moment so I can't send you any pics. I'm sure somebody on here could share, anybody?
I have the gaiter fitted on my classic(6 speed conversion)
It's not great, made of rubber, fits into little pegs under the plastic trim and the holes have split in the rubber so keeps popping off!
Ah okay, interesting. After I've had the newer model in to make the template up it would be good to find out what the classic 'fixing' points look like. It might be quite easy to adjust.

Cool
I'm doing some work on the car tomorrow so will put some pics up tomorrow.
By looking at it, it might be very difficult to make a cloth item to fit that. It looks like it's the rubber's rigidness that keeps it in the peg and in place. The cloth/fabric gaiter would probably just continually fall out.
