Default Santa Pod Jan 31st

Anyone going from here? Will be my first time at a drag strip, just wanted any tips/hints.

I'm running a 98 STI mapped by Andy Carr. Running 1.2 bar and around 360hp (I think no dyno as of yet).

Also what times should I be aiming for?

I'll be there, first RWYB date for 2016.

Nice! I just watched your 11.4 or whatever but I see you have improved on that! Any tips on launching? I'm a bit apprehensive about ruining my clutch.

Drag racing is hard on your drivetrain, find me there and we can chat, there will be a good bunch of us there, and I'm not easy to miss.

I managed 11.7 with a tad over 400. 360 if given the beans should be in the 12s easy

Mid to low 12s if it's mild or dry. Deffo 11.9 in the summer!

If its damp, high 12s are still on.

I will add I also no longer have ~75+ kg of weight in the car. No rear seats, boot lining, door cards, roof cards spare tire etc etc!

edit* thought I do still have the rear spoiler. unfortunately for me the looks outweigh the fact it weighs a ****ton

Bob ran 11.5 in a 340bhp classic. Think it was near full weight. High rpm launch though.

Good spot!

Some very varied times on the list, just goes to show the skill level needed to get the car to accelerate to it's true potential. I can't imagine how 10s must feel, it must be the greatest feeling in the world. Or scariest!

I think a low 12 sec Lambo is the quickest car I've been in

I'll be there, never done 1/4 mile before so will be interesting. I had a look at the 1/4 mile leaderboard post on here and it appears power to weight + the driver make a lot of difference.

1 thing I am curious about is how the 6 speed uk box in mine will affect times as I believe I'll be in 5th over the line which is a lot taller gear than the 1st 4? Anyone else running a uk 6 speed in a classic that done it?

You are going to be in 5th if you have enough power!

Pretty sure he's over 500bhp in those clips

I might be going 6 speed soon and was contemplating a UK box so it'll be interesting to see how you get on with it.

That's correct! I assumed theop was to have a 6spd too! I quite like the uk. Box in mine, it has a ***** 2-3 ratio mind, but you get used to it. For your power I wouldn't worry about using a uk box, however, if going to be using it like mine, do expect to break them, I've broken 2 now...

In those clips I think it was either 520 or 535, I can't remember if it was before or after the new turbo! The last clip against the 205 was on my "high boost" map at 550+hp

Aren't the first 4 gears the same ratio in all 6 speed boxes?
And why do jdm boxes carry such a premium over the UK boxes?
The money I could save buying a UK box could go towards a nice new turbo

I believe the JDM boxes have a 1.1:1 drop gear ratio where uk is 1:1?
