Question Headlight leveling sensors not working (front and rear)

So says my MOT advisory, how much to sort?

Seem to be pointing too far down and not giving enough light on unlit roads.

If the headlight levellers had issues like broken links or damaged in any way its an instant FAIL.

if its a case of the lamp level being low just adjust them assuming the warning lamp isn't illuminated and the sensors are in good order I.E not snapped or damaged

Apparently the Subaru design lets in water. You may find them seized.

Which model? Hawkeye? Have you got a warning light on dash?

Yeah, I have a Hawkeye.
No light on the dash lit.

Going to dig out the MOT for the exact wording.

I had the dash warning light on my Hawkeye. Replacing the front sensor sorted it (there is 1 sensor at the front and 1 at the back). I also needed a plug which are difficult to source (can't buy new as part of loom). The sensors are a lot cheaper from abroad - £280 ish each from Subaru UK, £120 ish from abroad.

Question

Just had a look at the MOT, actual wording is 'front and rear level brackets broken '

Any ideas how much to replace of fix?

I've never heard of the brackets breaking. This is what they look like http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-SU...-/272016129170 I doubt the bracket would be available separately. It is the sensors than normally fail due to corrosion in plug.

£236 + vat new each

They break because the ball joints seize causing the link rod to shear off

I didn't realise that could happen - just thown my old one away and all that mechanism was ok (I just had corrosion on the pins in the socket).

Quite common to be honest, On service and PDi we gently lift the rubber boot back and inject a small amount of grease to keep them well lubricated.
