Dissapointed with AS Performance
So, I dropped my car off with Alyn a week or so ago. He's busy, and I've access to transport so time wasn't an issue.
There was noise, and vibration felt through the gear stick, so I thought I'd done another gearbox, so I asked Alyn to have a look at it for me. It was also due a cam belt, and it looked like the rear crank shaft oil seal was leaking, so I asked if he could do those whilst it was in his care.
It transpired that I hadn't actually done another gearbox, centre diff was bust, and the propshaft was damaged. Fear not, he had all the parts to fix it.
I may have this wrong, but, it appears that the bearing cage in the centre diff area has failed. Or a circlip has come off causing it to fail.
Alyn split the box, to make sure there was no damage to the actual gears, they were fine. Phew.
Reassembled, new clutch fitted, cambelt replaced, propshaft replaced, crank shaft oil seal replaced. < not in that order
So, I get a phone call this afternoon, "Hi, Micky. Your cars ready to pick up." Champion.
Go and see Alyn, it's handy that he's pretty much on my doorstep, breath a sigh of relief that the bill wasn't as high as I thought it would be, and pay the money due.
I realised there was a problem when I got home though.
I've been a customer for 10 years, and he still never offered me a cuppa!!!!!

All you need to do is ask, if I remember you even wanted to fit the box for me you still have a favour lying on dont forget, one thing I cant do is give you a winning set of lotto numbers as for Alyn he hasnt got time to put a brew on as he is always on the phone taking orders or sorting your car out Lol.

Ace.
I never read the "Thanks to XXX Threads" but was guilty of jumping all over this one. Alyn has always been ace, I've only ever bought parts from him - never had him do work but based on my experiences so far, wouldn't hesitate to use him.
