Default My first Scooby

Hi everyone, just acquired my very first Scooby, a MY03 WRX. Actually swapped it for a 4WD I had. The more I drive it the more I like it, wasn't sure about the swap to start with, but very happy now. Anyway, I do have 1 question; the remote central locking doesn't work. There are no lock or unlock buttons on the key head, they are broken. I can actually see inside the key head and see the battery.

Also, there was an ECU of some sort in the console. Hard to make out the writing because of condition, but I THINK it says something like SAA9016, under that is A something something something M ECU Qty 1. There's a white 16 pin plug and what looks like an ethernet port, in 1 side. Just wondering if this sounds familiar to anyone? I'm suspecting it's something to do with the remote locking? Or maybe alarm? I'd like to get remote locking working again, but don't want to spend a fortune.....

I can't post pics, so sorry for sounding cryptic lol

Hi Timmmmmmmmaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ay.

My advice would be: take it to a Subaru specialist and get them to take a look.

Ps. Welcome to snet.
Pps. I hope you noticed these things before buying the car and haggled the son of a 8!tch down accordingly!?

Sounds like an alarm module.
Yes best bet is to take it too a specialist.

Thanks for the replies, sorry, been at work the past couple of nights, only just logged back in here.

Yeah, my thoughts were either alarm module of something to do with remote locking. When I looked at the car I didn't notice the module in the console, didn't think much about the key, either. I did a straight swap for a Nissan Navara I had been trying to get rid of for a while, so haggling wasn't really an option. (It had its own issues lol).

I can live without the remote locking, so not keen on spending a lot. Would be handy to keep the keys from scratching the door tho, that's about it
