Don't know it's just an Impreza I've seen for sale and wondered if there was any history on here about it.

Deluded. Add at least £6-700 to get the arches done properly. No mention of remaps for the front mount. STi seats do not make it an STi.
Run away.

I don't mind some minor bodywork as I can get that sorted out no problem but just want a good strong engine. I'm not looking at spending silly money either so I know I'm not going to get a perfect one as its not going to be an everyday car.

Well yes and no, if your after a UK model then yes. Remember there old cars now, mines 16 years old. Back in the day most cars would be rusted away by now, but cars are better built.

What you classing as too pricey?

Heres one that was on for £3500 which isn't bad for 74k full history

This is what hides behind the "minor rust bubbling".

I think people are being a little harsh. The car in the OP's link is a very rare car, its a Version 5 4 door Type R Gumtree edition 4/14

But it helps if you know what your looking at in the first place or you happen to work with bodywork

Found another UK spec on a w plate in blue 140k, needs exhaust blow sorting and someone has painted the front bumper in the wrong shade of paint. Also someone has put the fan on a separate switch?? Similar money to the red one

So higher miles and worse condition. Sounds a winner to me.

Sounds like youre deluded mate....

Why would a bumper need to be painted, unless its had a smack?

Exhaust blow is like a £25 fix, so why would you not do it before selling it? Unless it needs a whole new exhaust/manifold system? In which case its too expensive to fix if you are selling it, so its probably more than a "slight" blow.

And the fans are controlled from the ECU, so if they are wired to a separate switch there is either a sensor issue, a wiring issue, an ECU issue, an over heating issue, or some other hidden nasty....

So you get shown nice FSH low milage example and come back with something with double the milage and lots of problems and you think its a viable proposition?

I think it might be best to leave older cheap subarus alone if your budget is very tight.

You can easily get a nice clean classic for under £2000.
