Default Replacement Key

When I bought my Impreza it only came with 1 tatty key. I was wanting to get a replacement at some stage but as the battery on the current one is getting low I thought it would be a good time to sort it out.

Unfortunately Subaru are wanting £340 for a new one, it is one of the single button ones (05 sti). Tried a few Subaru dealers and they were all the same. However I also tried Timpsons and they said they could supply me with a remote key that will work RCL / immobiliser and alarm for £160. Does anyone have any experience with these guys? At half the price it seems too good to be true - but still feel like it is too much for a bloody key!

I have read a few posts here about getting keys cheap and coding yourself, but I want it done right with only 1key with a button, less messing about the better. Unless anyone knows a cheap easy way to get a replacement key?

Hi I had the same issue when I bought MY05 STi, I found a key cutting shop that would cut me a key and clone the Immobiliser chip, then I bought a sigma remote fob from eBay ( same as the Subaru one which came with a MY00-MY02 models ). Then I programed it to the alarm ( instructions to program the remote can be found online or I have them somewhere )
