An excedy clutch wont hurt - but launch starts will. If the smell is only presant when you boot it from standstill but does not when driving normally then you have your answer

Ok it's just that the clutch place I whent to will only fit the standard recommended clutch. Are they just not suitable. Now as the power is more. ? Thanks will

You didn't need to upgrade your clutch to a pink box Stage 1. The standard one would've been fine with your power levels and you'd have eradicated any clutch judder from standstill.

I ran an 05 Sti with 340 bhp on the standard clutch and flywheel that was on the car after it was modified by Slowboy Racing in Kent. I did some 24,000 miles and it performed perfectly. Was like a rocket in actual fact!

Default Clutch

Ok thanks for that. I forgot to say. As performance said that exede do not do a stage one clutch. ( Just wot he said ) The box mine came in was blue. So he said it's just the standard clutch. That has been installed. . But I have now racked up 100 miles and it's a bit better. Just about to go out and do another 100 miles. If no better I will get them to put a new clutch in. ?

Is your car a WRX or STI. If it was the standard clutch, then it prob just needs to bed in, like you say.

If that's the case how much bhp and torque can the standard clutch on a newage Sti handle then?

How long is a piece of string really pal. You got to take on board peoples driving styles, resting foot on clutches, short shifting etc.

Driven sensibly I dare say 400/400 ish, but how long it would last is anybody's guess tbh, but you wouldn't get any satisfaction out of driving the car that way, that's for sure
