Use a genuine black Subaru filter if you can. Not the blue one which has known issues.

There's quite a good video on YouTube showing the difference between black and blue oem filters. It's been suggested by one garage to me that the blue ones are very easy to over tighten causing them to leak.

As for buying the black oem filter. I use advanced automotives through ebay. Very readonable price and next day delivery. They're an rcm stockist.

there was a specific issue with a batch of blue filters but for how long they have been used and how little issues ever seen i dont see any major problem albeit the JDM Black is better quality (we stock/supply both to customers preference) - we personally have never had any issues with Blue and having contact with various other respected tuners through our engineering work we have heard of few other issues............

we offer very competitive oil, filters, service parts, etc. as required and happy to advise on the correct oil for YOUR use/abuse

As above and above.
Had you spoke to Alyn originally I doubt you'd have made this thread.

Been using the blue filters for years now and never had an issue with them although I never did any track work. They always seemed on the small side to me considering what is being asked of them! I'm sure there are other filters out there with bigger capacites if you are a regular thrasher! Think I've seen a K&N version but not sure how good they are.

I have previously used the K&N varients and found them good. They are handy at oil change time as they have the nut shape welded to the bottom.
